This dataset contains the carbon chemistry measurements of a laboratory experiment study to understand the effects of ocean acidification on winter flounder. To address the goals of the NOAA Ocean Acidification Program (OA), the James J. Howard Laboratory constructed an OA experimental system to conduct OA experiments on commercially important species native to Atlantic waters of the NE U.S. The species of interest exhibit a broad range of ecological and life-history types from entirely marine to entirely estuarine. In order to conduct OA experiments on several different species, the required experimental system was able to mimic both estuarine and oceanic conditions. This system was designed to produce 5 pCO2 concentrations above an ambient pCO2 treatment and 5 temperature regimes. The system is also capable of manipulating dissolved oxygen, salinity, and other biogeochemicals common to a benthic habitat. The analytical laboratory conducts analysis according to the guidelines developed by the ocean acidification subcommittee of the Ocean Carbon and Biogeochemistry Program. When followed correctly, these guidelines should produce data with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
