This dataset contains biological and survey - biological data collected on Alvin, R/V Atlantis, and R/V Falkor during cruises AT37-13, AT42-03, and FK190106 and deployments AT37-13_Alvin_Dives and AT42-03_Alvin_Dives in the North Pacific Ocean from 2017-05-22 to 2019-01-10. These data include depth, family, genus, order, phylum, and species. The instruments used to collect these data include Bottom Sediment Grab Samplers, Bushmaster, Mussel Pot, and Sediment suction sampler. These data were collected by Victoria J Orphan of California Institute of Technology, Erik E. Cordes of Temple University, and Christopher Roman, Gregory Rouse, and Lisa A Levin of University of California-San Diego as part of the "Collaborative research: Quantifying the biological, chemical, and physical linkages between chemosynthetic communities and the surrounding deep sea (Costa Rica Seeps)" project. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2020-07-30.
The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:
Dataset Description:
Sampling information from mussels and associated organisms collected from different seep sites off the Costa Rica margin. The collections were made aboard R/V Atlantis during 2017 and 2018 using DSV Alvin. In 2019 the collections were made aboard R/V Falkor, using the ROV Subastian. Sampling information contains length, height, width, Phylum, Class, Order, Family and Genus.
