The Microwave Integrated Retrieval System (MIRS) provides an end-to-end capability of calibrating and characterizing the radiances measured from satellite-based microwave instruments using state of the art algorithm science. The MIRS produces advanced near-real-time operational sounding products in all-weather and over all-surface conditions using brightness temperatures from multiple microwave instruments. The MIRS Global Level-3 (L3) daily sounding map provides temperature, water vapor, and hydrometeor profiles maps. The MIRS L3 map is generated from the MIRS Level 2 (L2) sounding observations and is provided in polar stereographic and cylindrical stereographic projections. The data are produced by the NOAA Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) and are distributed by the Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System (CLASS) as daily gridded files in the netCDF-4 file format with attributes included.
