This Level-3 (L3) Global Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides a near real-time flood product generated from observations detected with the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) onboard the Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21 satellites. For each observation, this product provides the flood status at the time of satellite overpass at a resolution of 375 meters. The VIIRS near-real time Flood Map (VFM) is generated from VIIRS SDR and EDR Imager bands (01, 02, 03, and 05), terrain-corrected navigation data, VIIRS enterprise cloud mask, and a series of ancillary datasets to detect flooding and retrieve floodwater fractions. This data set is produced by the NOAA Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) and is distributed by the Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System (CLASS) as aggregated 10 minute TAR files consisting of 7 (86 second) granules in the NetCDF file format with metadata attributes included.
