OpenLQM

Open Latent Quality Metric, or "OpenLQM," analyzes friction ridge images and returns latent quality metrics. OpenLQM is an open-source C++ port of LQMetric, the original automated tool for measuring the image quality of latent fingerprints developed by Noblis for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). It was originally distributed as part of Universal Latent Workstation (ULW).

The value returned by OpenLQM is an estimate of the probability that an image-only Automated Fingerprint Identification Software (AFIS) search would find the correct candidate with the highest similarity score if the correct candidate's exemplar fingerprints were enrolled. OpenLQM can also be used to assess the value of latent fingerprints in non-AFIS work.
