Surface Prognostic Charts

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Surface Prognostic Charts are historical surface prognostic (forecast) charts created by the United States Weather Bureau. They include fronts, isobars, cloud, and precipitation areas. There are two separate charts: one is a four-panel 12- and 24-hour, in which the upper two panels are devoted to low-level significant weather; the other, a two-panel 36- and 48-hour with discussion. The discussion is limited to about 260 abbreviated words.

NUCAPS: NOAA Unique Combined Atmospheric Processing System Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set consists of Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR) from the NOAA Unique Combined Atmospheric Processing System (NUCAPS). NUCAPS was developed by the NOAA/NESDIS Center for Satellite Application and Research (STAR) and is produced operationally at the NOAA/NESDIS Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO).

International Surface Temperature Initiative (ISTI) Global Land Surface Temperature Databank - Stage 1 Daily

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The global land surface temperature databank contains monthly timescale mean, max, and min temperature for approximately 40,000 stations globally. It was developed as part of the International Surface Temperature Initiative. This is the global repository for all monthly timescale land surface observations from the 1800s to present and uses data deriving from sub-daily, daily, and monthly observations.

Publication Station History Report (PHR) for COOP Elements

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This report pertains to the roughly 9,000 NWS Cooperative Network sites whose observations are published in NCDC's Climatological Data or Hourly Precipitation Data publications. It is a compilation of elements observed and/or reported for all published stations in the Cooperative network. It uses repeating groups of details by station, data program, element and equipment.

NOAA Aircraft Operations Center (AOC) Flight Level Data

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

NOAA AOC WP-3D Research Flight Data is digital data set DSI-6420, archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). This data set is meteorological data gathered by Lockheed WP-3D Orion aircraft, operated by the NOAA Aircraft Operations Center (AOC) at MacDill AFB, Florida. Data is provided by the Science and Engineering Division of AOC to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The WP-3D aircraft perform many projects throughout the year. Examples of these projects would be hurricane research, atmospheric chemistry, thunderstorm investigations, and winter weather missions.

Global Historical Climatology Network - Monthly (GHCN-M), Version 2

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

**Please note, the temperature portion of this dataset has been superseded by a newer version. Users should not use this version except in rare cases (e.g., when reproducing previous studies that used this version). The precipitation subset of this dataset is still the latest version available.** The Global Historical Climatology Network Monthly (GHCN-M) Version 2 dataset created by the NCDC contains historical temperature, precipitation, and pressure data for thousands of land stations worldwide.

Global Surface Summary of the Day - GSOD

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Global Surface Summary of the Day is derived from The Integrated Surface Hourly (ISH) dataset. The ISH dataset includes global data obtained from the USAF Climatology Center, located in the Federal Climate Complex with NCDC. The latest daily summary data are normally available 1-2 days after the date-time of the observations used in the daily summaries. The online data files begin with 1929 and are at the time of this writing at the Version 8 software level. Over 9000 stations' data are typically available.

Medium Range Forecast (MRF) and Nested Grid Model (NGM)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Nested Grid Model (NGM) and Medium Range Forecast (MRF) Archive is historical digital data set DSI-6140, archived at the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). The National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) of the National Weather Service (NWS) runs a series of computer analyses and forecasts operationally, which use or produce model data. This data set is one of several NCEP sets of model data archived at NCEI.

Extended Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) Sensor Data Record (SDR) in netCDF

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) is a seven-channel linearly polarized passive microwave radiometer that operates at frequencies of 19.36 (vertically and horizontally polarized), 22.235 (vertically polarized), 37.0 (vertically and horizontally polarized), and 85.5 GHz (vertically and horizontally polarized). The instrument was carried aboard Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellites F8, F10, F11, F12, F13, and F15. The Sensor Data Records (SDRs) from SSM/I contain calibrated and earth-located data after antenna pattern corrections have been applied.

NOAA GOES-R Series Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) Level 0 Data

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data collection consists of archived Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-R (GOES-R) Series Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) Level 0 data from the GOES-East and GOES-West satellites in the operational (OPS) and the post-launch test (PLT) phases. The GOES-R Series provides continuity of the GOES mission through 2035 and improvements in geostationary satellite observational data. GOES-16, the first GOES-R satellite, began operating as GOES-East on December 18, 2017. GOES-17 began operating as GOES-West on February 12, 2019.
