US Air Force Data Processing Manuals
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Data Processing Reference manual for United States Air Force surface stations, circa 1960s. TDF-13 stands for Tape Deck Format number 13, the format in which the data were arranged on the magnetic tapes sent to NCDC from the Air Force. While the data on the tapes have long since been migrated, these documents still contain station metadata, including period of record, for all Air Force stations for which data were included.

Observing Site Histories
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Detailed reports prepared for the Midwestern Regional Climate Center under the auspices of the Climate Database Modernization Program. The goal of each report is to trace the observing site history from its beginnings in the 19th century through either the present or the date of station closure. The 82 reports were produced between 2002-2007 by three authors: Steve Doty, retired NCDC meteorologist; Glen Conner, Kentucky State Climatologist emeritus; and Gary Grice, retired deputy director of the National Weather Service.

Water Level Station History
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Images contain station history information for 175 stations in the National Water Level Observation Network (NWLON). The NWLON is a network of long-term, continuously operating water-level stations throughout the USA, including its island possessions and territories and the Great Lakes. NWLON stations are the foundation for reference stations for NOAA's tide prediction products, and serve as controls in determining tidal datums for all short-term water-level stations.

Water Level Superseded Benchmark Sheets
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Images of National Coast & Geodetic Survey (now NOAA's National Geodetic Survey/NGS) tidal benchmarks which have been superseded by new markers or locations. Period of record is 1830-1984. Scanned under the Climate Database Modernization Program.

WPA Precipitation Tabulations
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Hourly precipitation data tabulated under the Work Projects Administration (WPA), a New Deal program created to reduce unemployment during the Great Depression. Forms capture extreme precipitation over periods ranging from five minutes to twenty-four hours. Scans captured from the microfilm collection at the National Climatic Data Center.

Storage Gage Precipitation Observations
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
A storage gage is a precipitation gage that requires reading and maintenance only monthly or seasonal intervals. This library includes reports from such gages, offering monthly or sub-monthly precipitation especially from sparsely populated areas of the Western United States. Period of record 1950-1965.

US Air Force Base Observations
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Hourly observations taken by U.S. Air Force personnel at bases in the United States and around the world. Foreign observations concentrated in the Middle East and Japan. Stations assigned WBAN numbers. Original forms sent from the Air Force to NCDC by agreement and stored in the NCDC archives.
