NODC Standard Format Mechanical Bathythermograph (MBT/C128) Data (1941-1988) (NCEI Accession 9400122)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This collection contains temperature, depth, and other data collected using mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) casts from numerous platforms in oceans and seas around the world from 1941-06-04 to 1988-02-16. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC Mechanical Bathythermograph (MBT/C128) format.

NODC Standard Format Oceanographic Station (SD2) Data (1898-1996) (NCEI Accession 9400123)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels, in NODC Standard Oceanographic Station Data (SD2 or C100) format. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5 percent) were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity- temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) and other data were collected in NW Atlantic (limit-40 W). Data was collected from NOAA Ship WHITING. The data was collected over a period spanning from May 20, 1994 and June 23, 1994. Data from 9 casts containing 270 records in WHOI/NODC Exchange format was submitted in one diskette by National Ocean Service, Rockville, MD. Data has been processed and is available in F022-CTD-Hi Resolution file format of NODC.

Cloud amount/frequency, TRANSMISSIVITY and other data from GYRE in the Gulf of Mexico from 1994-07-18 to 1994-07-20 (NCEI Accession 9400128)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) and Bathythermograph (XBT) data were collected in Gulf of Mexico as part of Texas Institutions Gulf Ecosystem Research (TIGER) project funded by grant no MMS # 14-35-0001-30501. Data was collected from Ship GYRE cruise 94G05. The data was collected over a period spanning from July 18, 1994 and July 20, 1994. Data was submitted in two diskettes by Dr. Douglas C. Biggs, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX via Eddie Webb.

Time Series of British XBT Data Distribution 1900 - 1994 (NCEI Accession 9400129)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The water depth and temperature data was collected from multiple ships by the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office. The originator's analog bathythermograph (XBT) data was submitted in a diskette containing 3 files in NODEF-1 format. The data has been converted by NODC and is now available on line. See accompanying documentation for file format information.
