Water Quality Data from South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Cruises along the Florida Reef Tract, Florida Bay and Southwest Florida (NCEI Accession 0247167)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The dataset is from the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Cruises on R/V Walton Smith and R/V Hogarth. Data has been collected bimonthly since 1998 at fixed stations along the Florida Reef Tract, Florida Bay and Southwest Florida. A CTD is deployed to collect in-situ water quality measurements and water samples at the sea surface. Water samples for nutrient analysis are filtered after collection using a 0.45 micromolar filter and frozen for the duration of the cruise.

Measurements of respiration, feeding, and growth of juvenile red and blue king crabs collected in laboratory experiments for the Effects of Ocean Acidification on Federally Managed Crab Species project in Kodiak, Alaska from 2013-06-10 to 2013-07-14 (NCEI Accession 0247209)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This is data from a laboratory experiment in which red and blue king crab (Paralithodes camtschaticus and P. platypus) juveniles were held at three different pH levels (ambient, pH 7.8, and pH 7.5). Growth, survival, feeding and respiration were recorded.

The complete methods, which should be read and understood prior to using this data are published as:

Observations of survival, growth, and morphology of blue king crabs collected in laboratory experiments for the Effects of Ocean Acidification on Federally Managed Crab Species project in Kodiak, Alaska from 2011-06-16 to 2012-06-18 (NCEI Accession 0247437)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset includes observations of how CO2-driven acidification affected the growth and survival of juvenile blue king crab (Paralithodes platypus.), an important fishery species in Alaska. Early benthic instar crabs were randomly assigned to one of three pH treatments: (1) surface ambient pH ~ 8.2, (2) likely in situ ambient pH 7.8, and (3) pH 7.5. Thirty crabs were held in individual inserts in each treatment for one year and checked daily for molting or death. The complete methods, which should be read and understood prior to using this data, are published as: Long, W.

Water temperature, salinity, and others taken by CTD and Niskin bottles from the research vessel Neil Armstrong, cruise AR60-01, in the North Atlantic from 08-03-2021 to 08-17-2021 (NCEI Accession 0247461)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains salinity-calibrated Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) and bottle data from the 2021 Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) Irminger Sea 8 cruise of the research vessel Neil Armstrong (AR60-01). Data quality control methods have been used to assess performance of the CTD instrument. Resulting high-quality profiles were then used together with salinity bottle data analyzed at sea to create a post-cruise salinity-calibrated CTD product.

Underwater and topside imagery, videos, and biological characterization data collected during the Peleliu's Forgotten WWII Battlefield 2018 Expedition in the South Pacific Ocean from 2018-03-25 to 2018-04-14 (NCEI Accession 0247575)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set contains archaeological project images and videos obtained using the following equipment: Olympus Tough TG-5; DJI Mavic Pro Platinum drone; Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 camera with Olympus PT-EP10 underwater housing; GoPro Hero 4; Nikon D700 Digital Camera. Swimmer/diver reconnaissance took place in the shallow areas of the reef not navigable by boat and a walking survey of the invasion beaches from the shoreline to approximately 30 meters inland was conducted. Standard archaeological documentation included photographs and written documentation of significant features.

Walton Smith cruise WS21093 (EXPOCODE 33WA20210403) in the North Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico from 2021-04-03 to 2021-04-09 (NCEI Accession 0247603)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains the discrete profile measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, pH on total scale, ammonia, water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and nutrients during the R/V F. G. Walton Smith cruise WS21093 (EXPOCODE 33WA20210403) in the North Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico from 2021-04-03 to 2021-04-09. Increasing amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide from human industrial activities are causing changes in global ocean carbon chemistry resulting in a reduction in pH, a process termed ocean acidification.
