Observations of the effects of ocean acidification on the exoskeleton in adult Tanner crabs (Chionoecetes bairdi) collected in laboratory experiments for the Effects of Ocean Acidification on Federally Managed Crab Species project in Kodiak, Alaska from 2011-06-21 to 2013-07-14 (NCEI Accession 0248337)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This is data from a laboratory experiment in which mature female Tanner crabs were held at three different pHs (ambient, pH 7.8, and pH 7.5) for approximately two years. The laboratory exposure started on 2011-06-21 and ended on 2013-07-14. At the end of the exposure period samples of both the exoskeleton and claw were taken. Exoskeleton mechanical and elemental properties were analyzed in both the carapace and the claw. This dataset includes only the data from the cuticle analysis.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and current velocities obtained from the long-term Fisheries Oceanography in Coastal Alabama (FOCAL) mooring operated by the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL). The mooring is located at 30°05.410'N, 88°12.694'W, along the 20-m isobath about 25 km southwest of Mobile Bay, Alabama. This dataset contains non-continuous data collected between 2007-10-01 and 2016-08-19 using a variety of instruments, including thermistors, CTDs, and a bottom-mounted, upward-looking RDI 600 Workhorse Sentinel ADCP.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset includes surface underway, chemical, meteorological and physical data collected from R/V F.G. Walton Smith in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean in 2022. These data include air-sea difference of partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2), pCO2 in atmosphere, pCO2 in water, barometric pressure, sea surface salinity and temperature. The instruments used to collect these data include barometric pressure sensor, carbon dioxide gas analyzer, shower head chamber equilibrator for autonomous carbon dioxide measurement and thermosalinographs.

Model predictions for 2020 and 2090 of ocean acidification and temperature effects on the relationship between fishing effort and profit for northern rock sole (Lepidopsetta polyxystra) in Alaska based on fishery monitoring and environmental data collected in 1975 and 2020 (NCEI Accession 0248632)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains the relationship between the effort (fishing days) and yield (in thousand tonnes) and profit (in millions of dollars; real 2019 USD) in 2020 and 2090 in the absence of future time-varying growth. The model used fisheries data collected in the eastern Bering Sea in the years 1975 and 2020.

Model predictions for 2020-29 and 2090-99 of average catch, average profits and the probability of negative profits for northern rock sole in Alaska based on fishery monitoring and environmental data collected in 1975 and 2020 (NCEI Accession 0248633)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Average profit (million $) and average catch (thousand tonnes) [median and 90 % intervals] by harvest strategy and the proportion of years with negative profit. Results are shown for projections based on models 0, 8 and 9. The strategies include the average fishing mortality for 2016–20, and strategies based on constant F and the 40-5 harvest control rule. The target fishing mortality for the latter two strategies are F35%, F35, and FMEY. The calculations account for future variation in recruitment about the stock-recruitment and in the parameters of the growth function.

El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) Normals 2020 (NCEI Accession 0248650)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

ENSO Normals 2020 is a new high-resolution set of climate normals for the contiguous United States that are conditioned for various phase categories of the El Niño – Southern Oscillation (ENSO): Strong La Niña, Weak La Niña, Neutral, Weak El Niño, and Strong El Niño. In addition, the optimal climate normal (OCN) – a 15-yr running average instead of the traditional 30-year normal – is utilized to better reflect the impacts of climate change. The spatial domain is a 1/24 degree grid over the contiguous United States (CONUS).

U.S. Monthly Gridded Precipitation and Temperature Climate Normals for 2006-2020 (NCEI Accession 0248761)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

A 1/24 degree by 1/24 degree (~5 km) gridded data set consisting of monthly precipitation and temperature values for the conterminous U.S. was published as part of generating new division climate normals. The underlying data set is nClimGrid, and this is based on a set of station anomalies observed in any given month interpolated spatially using climate guidance and reconstructed into whole values. The resulting monthly grids are the equivalent of homogenous temperature and serially complete precipitation records.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset includes surface underway measurements of partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in water and atmosphere, sea surface temperature, sea surface salinity and barometric pressure collected during the R/V Kronprins Haakon cruise in the Atlantic Ocean, English Channel and North Sea from 2018-12-01 to 2019-01-05. A General Oceanics (GO) pCO2 system (model 8050) was used for pCO2 measurements. The system is described in detail in Pierrot (2009). Surface water is pumped continuously from the intake to the equilibrator.
