Physical, current, and other data from CTD and current meters from FIXED PLATFORMS in the Bering Sea from 25 February 1998 to 10 October 2001. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) in support of the Fisheries-Oceanography Coordinated Investigations (FOCI) project. CTD parameters include temperature, conductivity, salinity, and fluorescence. Current meter parameters include East/West velocity components (U), North/South velocity component (V), current speed, current direction, turbidity, pressure, and temperature.

Moored current meter data were collected from the Bering Sea from 17 September 1993 to 31 March 1996. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) as part as part of the Fisheries-Oceanography Coordinated Investigations (FOCI). Current meter parameters include East/West velocity components (U), North/South velocity component (V), current speed, current direction, salinity, pressure, conductivity, and temperature. Data are not in standard formats and are self documenting.

The presence of harmful algal species, which produce toxins, pose a significant threat to public health and coastal aquaculture activities. For example, estimated losses due to biotoxin closures have cost the Irish shellfish industry $4 million in 2000. Biotoxins, which have the potential to cause the following human illnesses: diarrhetic, paralytic, amnesic and azaspiracid shellfish poisoning (known as DSP, PSP, ASP and AZP respectively) have been detected in shellfish in Ireland. The toxic phytoplankton species of concern in Irish waters are: Dinophysis spp. (DSP), Alexandrium spp.

This data set was created to accommodate a wide range of data on the phytoplankton Karenia brevis. It is designed to efficiently capture core information, yet have the capacity to expand and capture related sampling information if it is available. The data may be useful for studying red tide bloom events along the Texas coastline.

In August 2001, biologists from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service were asked to conduct an assessment of the national government's capability to respond to major threats (e.g., anthropogenic and natural) to the marine habitat of the Republic of the Maldives. A marine survey was conducted at selected locations to assess impacts to the marine environment. Biologists documented reef fishes, corals, other macroinvertebrates, and algae, and provided general descriptions of the benthic community at each of four primary survey sites.

CTD and other data were collected from charter/fishing boats in Willapa Bay, Washington, from 29 July 1997 to 10 September 1998. Data were collected by the University of Washington (UW) in support of the Pacific Northwest Coastal Ecosystem Regional Study (PNCERS). Parameters include temperature and salinity profiles.

Physical, current, and other data were collected from moored buoys in Hood Canal and the Puget Sound from 08 February 1980 to 10 April 1980. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL). Physical data include temperature, salinity, pressure, and conductivity. Current data include current direction, current speed, zonal current velocity, and meridional current velocity.
