The Biogeochemical Ocean Flux Study (BOFS) was a Community Research Project of the Marine and Atmospheric Sciences Directorate of the Natural Environment Research Council. It was hosted by the Plymouth Marine Laboratory from April 1987 to April 1992, with a bridging to April 1993 for cruises to the Southern Oceans. The North Atlantic field program was conducted between April 1989 and July 1991.

This CD-ROM includes the normals and standard deviations of the sea temperatures based on analyzed data which were derived from observations in a 30-year period from 1971 through 2000. Concerning "analyzed data", data of every 10-day (1080 10-days) and every month (360 months) are included.
Data were submitted by Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) Climate and Marine Department.

Determination of baseline conditions for introduced marine species in nearshore waters of the island of Kaho'olawe, Hawaii in January 1998 (NCEI Accession 0000715)

A survey of the marine macroalgae and invertebrates in the intertidal and subtidal zones was conducted at seven sites around Kaho'olawe Island from January 12 to 14, 1998. A total of 298 species were observed or collected, including 152 taxa in the intertidal and 193 in the subtidal. Most of these are new reports for Kaho'olawe and include only 35 species previously reported, which were mostly reef corals and macroalgae. Data are provided as derived from the report: 1998-002. Bottle parameters include concentration profiles of dissolved oxygen, nitrate, nitrite, silicate, chlorophyll-a, silicate, dissolved organic carbon, and total phaeopigments. CTD parameters include profiles of temperature and salinity.

Release of ships of opportunity XBT data compiled by the Maritime Environment Information Centre at the UKHO. The data represents 5 years (1995 - 2000) of archived SOOP XBT observations. The dataset contains 7214 observations from various vessels (see vessel summary), the data ranges from years 1984 to 2000. Previously to 1995 the data was released annually to the oceanographic community through ICES and US NODC, World Data Centre A.
