This biological oceanographic dataset was derived from cruises in support of the the validation of satellite ocean color imagery data collected by the Sea-Viewing Wide-Field-of-View Sensor (SeaWiFS) and the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS). Cruises were on various vessels over 1992-2004. Collection instruments varied among bottle, bucket, and cooler samples, Seabird, MLML, and SeaCAT sensors, pump systems, and vessel-mounted seachest/intake pipes. Includes both shipboard/field and laboratory fluorometrics.

Physical and Chemical Oceanographic Time Series (Line-P) containing profiles for Nutrients, temperature, salinity near Ocean Station PAPA (50 deg N;145 deg W). The U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) operates the Global Argo Data Repository (GADR) as the long-term archive for the International Global Argo Project (for additional information about ARGO, see https://argo.ucsd.edu/). Argo data archived by the USNODC on a weekly basis starting the second quarter of FY 2003, may include real-time and/or delayed mode profiles of ocean temperature and salinity, as well as related conductivity and/or pressure measurements (if any), collected by Argo profiling floats.

Multiple data types were collected during the Submarine Ring of Fire 2006 expedition sponsored by the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration.

Temperature profile data were collected using CTD casts in the Northeast Pacific Ocean from the launches of the NOAA Ship RAINIER from 26 August 2006 to 01 November 2006. Data were submitted by Ruby L. Becker of National Ocean Service (NOS) in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Western Region Coastal and Marine Geology Team deployed six NIWA Dobie-A non-directional wave gauges at five nearshore stations south of Molokai, Hawaii in depths from 4 to 13 meters during February 2001 - February 2002. The USGS team collected hourly significant wave height and dominant wave period data with the gauges and they provided the data in an ASCII format.

Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) is neither well understood nor commonly investigated in Hawaii, but it is recognized as a potential pollution source to coastal environments. Between 1997 and 2001, this study located and quantified both total SGD and the terrestrial SGD fraction in Kahana Bay, Oahu. CTD casts were used to profile the water structure and identify potential areas of SGD impact in the bay. Lee-type seepage meters were used to measure SGD rates and collect samples of SGD directly.
