This dataset contains data from measurements of photosynthetic capacity and phytoplankton productivity. In addition to cruise information, position, date, time, sampling depths, bottom depth, and general environmental information, this dataset may contain measured parameters including: concentrations of chlorophylls a, b, c, plant carotenoids, and phaeopigments; concentrations of oxygen, particulate organic carbon, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, silicate, and urea; temperature, salinity, and total alkalinity; and light penetration and light intensity.

This data type contains data from analyses of seabed oxygen consumption determined from measurements over a specified time interval of initial and final dissolved oxygen concentration. Cruise information, position, date, time, number of replicates (repeat measurements), bottom depth, temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration and oxygen saturation are reported for each experiment.

The data type contains data from aircraft surveys of herring schools. These data were collected to provide information on herring population density and distribution. Start date and time, start and end positions, and aircraft type, altitude and airspeed were reported for each survey. Surveys were conducted for preassigned areas; mid-point positions of census areas were reported. Environmental information may include meteorological conditions, sea state, air roughness and water clarity.

This format is designed to support microbiological studies of bacteria, microbiota, and fungi. There are twelve data record types used to report cruise and station information, position and time, physical, chemical and environmental parameters, and data records for the microbiological studies. Each data record is 80 characters in length, sorted by station and sequence numbers to maintain the proper order. The first nine columns for all records are to be used for file type (columns 1-3) and file identifier (columns 4-9).

Marine Invertebrate Pathology (F063) contains data from examinations of diseased marine invertebrates. Although these data maybe from field observations, they derive primarily from laboratory analysis. Data include: catch statistics (e.g., total weight, number of individual, identity of disease and number of diseased individuals) by species for any number of species; and biological condition of selected specimens. The size location, and frequency of lesions may be reported for individual specimens. Specimens are identified by an NODC Taxonomic Code.

This data type contains data from chemical analysis of seawater samples. Cruise information, position, date and time is reported for each station along with sample depth, temperature, salinity and density (sigma-t).
