The Common Murre Restoration Project is a comprehensive seabird restoration effort aimed at enhancing depleted seabird populations in central California, specifically those of the common murre (Uria aalge). The main focus of the project is to reestablish a colony of murres on a small seastack called Devil's Slide Rock, located along the San Mateo coast near Pacifica. This breeding colony held close to 3,000 murres as recently as the early 1980s, but was wiped out as a result of human-caused mortality.

North Pole Environmental Observatory CTD surveys: Springtime temperature and salinity measurements in the Arctic Ocean by aircraft, 2000 - 2008 (NCEI Accession 0057592)

The investigators propose to take annual springtime, large-scale airborne surveys of the Arctic Ocean. These surveys will be in two regions: the central Arctic Ocean (annual surveys), and the southern Beaufort Sea (biannual surveys). They will thus sample the two main circulation features of the Arctic Ocean, the Transpolar Drift Stream and the Beaufort Gyre. In both cases, the researchers will leverage existing operational capabilities when possible, such as the North Pole Environmental Observatory (NPEO) in the central Arctic and US Navy Ice Camps in the Beaufort Sea.

This dataset is the Data Report of Oceanographic Observations Special Issue (No.S2). This CD-ROM is an update of the special issue (No.S1) published in 2001. A major update means the addition of new data by the research vessels by the end of 2008.
This dataset includes water temperature, salinity, and nutrients measurements collected in the North Pacific Ocean from research vessels from 1964 to 2008, and from ocean data buoys from 1978 to 2000.

Temperature, salinity, photosynthetically active radiation and weather parameters at SEAKEYS stations in the Florida Keys, 2003 (NCEI Accession 0058097)

This dataset contains data collected at several Coastal-Marine Automated Network (C-MAN) stations in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Florida Bay. These C-MAN stations have been outfitted with additional sensors to collect temperature, salinity and PAR data in addition to the standard sensors for weather related observations. The basic National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) C-MAN instrument package generally monitors meteorological data, such as wind speed and direction, air temperature and barometric pressure, but sea temperature is also measured when possible, at 1 meter deep.
