Profile chemical, physical and optical data collected aboard the SEWARD JOHNSON in the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean from June 22, 2006 to July 24, 2006 (NCEI Accession 0059071)

This data set contains hydrographic data collected during cruise SJ0609 in the tropical North Atlantic. Leg 1 of the cruise began in Ft. Pierce FL with a rapid transit to Bridgetown, Barbados and two hydro stations (001-002) en route. Leg 2 extended from Barbados to Mindelo, Cape Verde, with nine hydro stations (003-010, 012). Leg 3 included a run south to the equator, then northwestward to Barbados with eleven hydro stations (013-023). Repeated casts at a single station are identified with a sequence number following the decimal.

This data set contains hydrographic data collected during cruise KM0703 in the tropical and subtropical Southwest Pacific. Leg 1 of the cruise began in Townsville, Australia and sampled the Coral Sea, a transect southward toward the Tasman Sea, and a transect northward toward New Caledonia, with twelve hydro stations (001-012). Leg 2 included a run eastward to 170 deg W, a northward run to 15 deg S, then a transect to the east before ending in Suva, Fiji after carrying out fourteen stations (013-026).

Winter temperature, salinity, oxygen, nutrients and isotopes data sampled by aircraft, April 2003 (NCEI Accession 0059129)

Winter sampling was performed in the eastern area of the Shelf-Basin Interactions Project using aircraft. Flights began on 1 April 2003 and finished on 15 April. During this time, we were able to sample 42 sites (49 CTD casts) on a series of 5 transect lines which bracketed and were parallel to the SBI current meter mooring line located at 152W longitude.

Nutrients, temperature and salinity data for Honokohau Harbor, Kealakekua Bay, and Kailua Bay, Big Island, Hawaii 2005-2007 (NCEI Accession 0059191)

This dataset was used as groundtruthing for low-altitude thermal infrared imagery of surface nearshore coastal waters of west Hawaii (the Big Island). Data are primarily temperature and salinity data taken in Honokohau Harbor and the adjacent oceanic waters from the surface to 5 m depth during August 2006. Additional Temperature and Salinity data plus nutrients (phosphates, nitrate, and silica) from fresh and brackish wells/ponds, harbors, and coastal waters were measured from August 2005 through May 2007.

Winter Aircraft Profiles of Temperature, Salinity, Density, and Nutrients 1 - 16 April 2004 (NCEI Accession 0059292)

Early spring sampling was performed in the eastern area of the Shelf-Basin Interactions Project using aircraft. Flights began on 1 April 2004 and finished on 16 April. During this time, we sampled 32 sites on a series of 5 transect lines (Fig. 1). Stations were about 10 km apart along each transect line. Transect lines B, C, and D were at the same spacing; while, lines A and E were 20 km from the nearest transect line. Typically, 4 stations were sampled on each flying day.
