ADCP data were collected by sensors from seven deployments within 2004-2007 on the HALE-ALOHA mooring, a location about 100 km north of Oahu, Hawaii, USA. The HALE-ALOHA mooring supports the Hawaii Ocean Time-series program. The ADCPs were one of many instruments deployed for the Multi-disciplinary Ocean Sensors for Environmental Analyses and Networks (MOSEAN) project, lead by the Ocean Physics Laboratory (OPL) of the University of California at Santa Barbara. The MOSEAN project is funded by the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP).

Beginning in late 1979, the Alabama Coastal Area Board (CAB) funded a series of baseline surveys on the coastal resources of Alabama, from which they could develop a monitoring program to observe any significant changes in the resources over time.

The Hawaii Undersea Research Laboratory (HURL) was established by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Hawaii. Its mission is to study deep water marine processes in the Pacific Ocean. The primary means of surveying are through use of the Submersibles Pisces IV and V and with a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). This dataset contains CTD data from a Seabird SEACAT instrument mounted on the submersibles and the ROV from 593 dives. Sound velocity profiles have been calculated for select dives.
