The Polar Rock Repository (PRR) is part of the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center (BPCRC) at the Ohio State University. The PRR is a partner in the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database, contributing information to the IMLGS to help researchers discover geological samples curated in their facility and available for further research. Only underwater samples (dredges, trawls, and grabs) curated by the PRR are described in the IMLGS. The originating institution is the definitive source of information related to their sample collection.

The partner repository may also send related data, documents, and imagery to NCEI for long-term archive, but the originating institution is the definitive source of information related to their sample collection.

The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) Marine Geoscience Collection (GSC Atlantic and GSC Pacific) contributed information on 40,428 cores, grabs, and dredges in their holdings to the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database. Only metadata describing the GSC A samples is maintained in the IMLGS for search purposes, no additional data are archived at NCEI. Complete data and information are available from the contributing institution.

Geological samples collected as part of the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) Project are curated by the U.S. Geological Survey, a partner in the ECS Project.
To date, dredges and cores have been collected from the Arctic Ocean floor, and small sediment samples have also been collected from the Bering Sea.
According to ECS policy, application can be made by qualified researchers to the ECS Samples Curator to obtain portions of these samples for study.

The Universite de Savoie Laboratoire Environnements, Dynamiques et Territoires de la Montagne (EDYTEM) is in the process of coding information about their marine and lacustrine geological sample collection for entry into the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS). EDYTEM metadata in the IMLGS currently describe two piston cores collected September 10, 2001 from latitude 45.74747 north, longitude 5.84818 east during project ECCHYMOSE 2001 from Lake Bourget in France.

The GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel made a one-time contribution to the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database of metadata describing 2415 grabs and piston, gravity, vibrating, and box cores in their geological sample repository collected during 82 cruises of multiple ships prior to 1994. GEOMAR cores described in the IMLGS are primarily in the North Atlantic Ocean with additional samples collected in the Mediterran Sea, and South Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.

Texas A and M University (TAMU), JOIDES Resolution Science Operator of the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP), is a partner in the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database, contributing information to the IMLGS to help researchers discover geological samples curated in their facility. The IODP core repositories archive and make available core material from the current IODP, and also from its predecessor programs, the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP), Ocean Drilling Program (ODP), and Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP).

The Lamont-Doherty Core Repository (LDCR), operated by the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Columbia University, is a partner in the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database, contributing information to the IMLGS to help researchers discover geological samples curated in their facility. The partner repository also sends related data, documents, and imagery to NCEI for long-term archive, but the originating institution is the definitive source of information related to their sample collection.

The National Lacustrine Core Repository (LacCore), operated by the University of Minnesota
is a partner in the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database, contributing
information to the IMLGS to help researchers discover geological samples curated in their facility.

but the originating institution is the definitive source of information related to their sample collection.
