Continental United States Heat Index and Wind Chill Climatology from 1973 to 2020 (NCEI Accession 0224863)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

While regional heat index and wind chill climatologies have been created in the past, limitations of data availability and accessibility have made a nationwide product for hourly-observed variables and derived products very difficult. However, the Midwestern Regional Climate Center (MRCC) in partnership with the Western Regional Climate Center (WRCC) created a web services portal called Cli-DAP where NCEI hourly-observed data became easily accessible.

Surface ocean velocities obtained by High Frequency (HF) radar stations located in Straits of Florida and Gulf of Mexico from 2019-12-28 to 2022-06-03 (NCEI Accession 0224983)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

High Frequency (HF) Radar is a real-time ocean surface current mapping instrument with the intended purpose of observing surface currents over the horizon out to a range of about 200km. The radial velocity components, Eastward surface current (u) and Northward surface current (v) may be used for model assimilation and validation, and to better understand the evolution of the Loop Current System (LCS) in the Gulf of Mexico.

Black sea bass, Centropristis striata, first 48 hour response to increased levels of carbon dioxide from 2013-07-13 to 2015-07-10 (NCEI Accession 0225335)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The effects of elevated levels of CO2 on black sea bass, especially during the early life stages when fish tend to be more sensitive to OA effects, was investigated. In this study, we exposed fertilized eggs to a range of CO2 levels (182.7 μatm- 2252.6 μatm) and measured % hatch, unhatch, and skeletal abnormalities after 48 hours of exposure. Adult male and female black sea bass were held in flowing seawater at ambient temperatures during the winters of 2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2014-2015. Once fish came out of torpor, adults were fed squid during conditioning and spawning.
