This dataset contains water temperature profiles from XBT casts collected aboard the L'Astrolabe, SEATRADE ORANGE, HANSA FREYBURG, SEATRADE RED, and Investigator in the Indian Ocean, South Pacific Ocean, Tasman Sea, Southern Ocean, and Coral Sea from 31 January 2020 to 11 September 2020. These data were collected as part of the Ship of Opportunity Program High Density XBT Transects during cruises LA200, SO30, HF32, SR30, and in2020_v and submitted by Rebecca Cowley of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).

The data quality monitoring system (DQMS) developed by the Satellite Oceanography Program at the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) is based on the concept of a Rich Inventory developed by the previous NCEI Enterprise Data Systems Group. The principal concept of a Rich Inventory is to calculate the data Quality Assurance (QA) descriptive statistics for selected parameters in each Level-2 data file and publish the pre-generated images and NetCDF-format data to the public.
