Atlantic Ocean water mass fraction estimates based on GLODAPv2 Atlantic database (NCEI Accession 0225455)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains estimates of water mass contributions to the GLODAPv2 Atlantic data. The major water masses in the Atlantic Ocean were characteristics as Source Water Types (SWTs) from their formation areas and map out their distributions. The SWTs are described by six properties taken from the biased adjusted data product GLODAPv2, including both conservative (Temperature and Absolute Salinity) and non-conservative (oxygen, silicate, phosphate and nitrate) properties.

Pacific Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program: Belt Transect for Demographics and Condition of Corals at U.S. Pacific Reefs from 2008-09-14 to 2012-05-19 (NCEI Accession 0163749)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The data described here result from benthic coral demographic surveys in the Hawaiian and Mariana Archipelagos, American Samoa, and the Pacific Remote Island Areas as part of NOAA's Pacific Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (Pacific RAMP). Adult colony surveys record morphology, colony size, partial mortality in two categories - old dead and recent dead, cause of recent dead partial mortality, and non-lesion forming condition including bleaching and disease.

Eastward and northward components of ocean current and water temperature collected from moorings in North East Pacific Coast from 1972-01-05 to 1972-09-25 (NCEI Accession 0163797)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

In 1972 the University of Washington maintained 2 current meter moorings, Inshore, (IN), and Offshore (OF) during January, July, and August 1972. In addition, a joint project with the Pacific Oceanographic Laboratory (currently known as the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory, PMEL) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was completed in September 1972 and provided a two-month record of temperature and currents over the Washington continental shelf and slope at three moorings (S6, S8, S11).

Northeast Pacific Regional Climatology (NCEI Accession 0163799)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Northeast Pacific (NEP) new regional climatology is derived from the NCEI World Ocean Database archive of temperature and salinity and covers a time period from 1955 to 2012, or roughly six decades.

Currents, Ice Velocity, Temperature, and Salinity from moorings around Hanna Shoal, Chukchi Sea, 2012-2014 (NCEI Accession 0163833)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These data were collected as part of the physical oceanographic component of the Chukchi Sea Offshore Monitoring in Drilling Area (COMIDA) Hanna Shoal Ecosystem Study. Hanna Shoal is a topographic feature in the northeastern Chukchi Sea that is both shallow (as little as 20m deep) and biologically productive. The earlier COMIDA: Chemistry and Benthos (CAB) study identified it as an area at which to focus additional ecological monitoring.

Eastward and northward components of ocean current and water temperature collected from moorings in the vicinity of Quinault Canyon in the North East Pacific Coast from 1979-04-28 to 1979-08-28 (NCEI Accession 0163893)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The University of Washington deployed 9 current meter moorings in the vicinity of Quinault Canyon. Of those 9 moorings, 6 moorings were recovered with useful data: QC1, QC2, QC5, QC7, QC8, and QC10. QC3 was not deployed and QC4 and QC6 were not recovered. One instrument from QC9 was found on the beach at Brandon, OR, July 12 but it leaked and no data was recovered. Current meters used were primarily Aanderaa (AA) meters and 2 Vector Measuring Current Meters (VMCM) instruments. Unfiltered data from the VMCM instruments is not available and therefore not included in this set.

Oceanographic data and information collected during the EX1705 American Samoa, Kingman/Palmyra, Jarvis (ROV & Mapping) expedition on NOAA Ship OKEANOS EXPLORER in the Pacific Ocean from 2017-04-27 to 2017-05-19 (NCEI Accession 0163984)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains oceanographic data collected in several marine protected areas between Pago Pago, American Samoa and Honolulu, Hawaii. Operations included the use of the ship’s Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), Scientific Computer System (SCS) data acquisition system designed for oceanographic and fisheries applications, and the ship’s high-bandwidth satellite connection for hourly data transfer, real-time ship to shore communications, real-time sonar control from shore, and real-time video streaming of sonar screens and ship’s cameras.

Eastward and northward components of ocean current and water temperature collected from moorings in North East Pacific Coast from 1973-01-05 to 1974-02-23 (NCEI Accession 0163985)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The University of Washington maintained moorings off the coast of Washington as part of the Continental Shelf Experiment 1973-74. Moorings were kept out for longer time periods during the winter and summer and an attempt was made to maintain moorings at both an Inshore and an Offshore site. Speed and direction were measured and rotated to true North, then resolved into u and v components. Most of the current meters were Aanderaa meters but Braincon meters were used on the Westport mooring (WP). The Aanderaa meters had temperature sensors.
