Data were collected by Texas A&M University (TAMU) as part of the International Decade of Ocean Exploration / International Ocean Studies / First Dynamic Response and Kinematics Experiment in the Drake Passage (IDOE/ISOS/FDRAKE). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format.

Biological data from the Deep Ocean Mining Environmental Study (DOMES) was submitted by R.J. Ozretich from the University of Washington. The data were collected in the North Pacific ocean on three cruises of the OCEANOGRAPHER from April 26, 1978 to March 22, 1979. The cruises can be identified by the following reference numbers: RP01OC78 - L01008; RP13OC78 - L01009; and RP09OC79 - L01010. The parameters reported are temperature, salinity, oxygen, apparent oxygen utilization (AOU), nutrients (PH, Si, NO3, NO2, NH4), ATP, chlorophyll and phaeopigment concentrations.
