Contains detailed information on 10.0 million patent assignments and other transactions recorded at the USPTO since 1970 and involving roughly 17.8 million patents and patent applications. It is derived from the recording of patent transfers by parties with the USPTO.

Use this API to retrieve patent assignment information from the USPTO assignment search database and generate XML files with the search results. An XML file with search results contains a list of found documents and their categorization. For API, please use Chrome or Safari browser.

Customer demand for our data has grown rapidly since the launch of the original Open Data Portal initiative in 2015 ? from 50 users to millions.

The Open Data Portal (ODP) API allows you to access USPTO data at no cost ? with several ways to do it. The ODP API uses HTTP, GET, and POST requests to return responses in JSON format. ODP also provides REST APIs, which provide rich search capabilities and allow users to retrieve patent application data, continuity data, documents, patent term adjustment data, and much more. You must get an API Key to use the ODP API. Note: The data products on our website allow users to download data without the need for an API key. Using ODP APIs will require an API key.

Use this API to search the Office of the Chief Economist (OCE) Patent Examination Event Codes Dataset 2015. The Event Codes dataset includes short descriptions of the event codes used in the transactions dataset. The descriptions can be linked to transactions using the event_code variable. There are 1,873 unique event codes represented in this data file.

Contains detailed information on more than 13 million publicly-viewable provisional and non-provisional patent applications to the USPTO and over 1 million Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications. It is based on data that OCE downloaded from the Patent Examination Data System (PEDS) in June, 2023. There are several data files, each of which coincides with a tab on USPTOs Patent Examination Data System (PEDS). The 2022 PatEx release includes some information that has not been made available in previous years.

Use this API to search Patent Examination Status Codes Dataset 2015. The Status Codes dataset includes descriptions of the status codes used to populate the appl_status_code variable in the application dataset. The descriptions can be linked to application data using this variable. There are 225 unique application status codes represented in this file. See Table A-3 in documentation for a list and brief description of the two variables included in this dataset.
