International Surface Temperature Initiative (ISTI) Global Land Surface Temperature Databank - Stage 1 Monthly

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The global land surface temperature databank contains monthly timescale mean, max, and min temperature for approximately 40,000 stations globally. It was developed as part of the International Surface Temperature Initiative. This is the global repository for all monthly timescale land surface observations from the 1800s to present and uses data deriving from sub-daily, daily, and monthly observations.

NOAA Climate Data Record (CDR) of Precipitation Estimation from Remotely Sensed Information using Artificial Neural Networks (PERSIANN-CDR), Version 1 Revision 1

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

PERSIANN Precipitation Climate Data Record (PERSIANN-CDR) is a daily quasi-global precipitation product for the period of 1982 to the present (note that there is a delay in data availability due to processing and data input availability). The data covers from 60 degrees S to 60 degrees N and 0 degrees to 360 degrees longitude at 0.25 degree spatial resolution. The product is developed using Gridded Satellite (GridSat-B1) IR data that are derived from merging ISCCP B1 IR data, along with GPCP version 2.2.

NOAA Climate Data Record (CDR) of AVHRR Daily and Monthly Aerosol Optical Thickness over Global Oceans, Version 2.0 (Version Superseded)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

*Note: This dataset version has been superseded by a newer version. It is highly recommended that users access the current version. Users should only use this version for special cases, such as reproducing studies that used this version.* This NOAA Climate Data Record (CDR) of Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) is derived from data taken over global oceans from the PATMOS-x AVHRR level-2b channel 1 (0.63 micron) orbital clear-sky radiance. The retrieval is performed for selected spatial (8-km) and temporal (1 time per day) resolution in cloud free condition during daytime over global oceans.

Global Historical Climatology Network - Daily (GHCN-Daily), Version 3

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Global Historical Climatology Network - Daily (GHCN-Daily/GHCNd) dataset integrates daily climate observations from approximately 30 different data sources. Version 3 was released in September 2012 with the addition of data from two additional station networks. Changes to the processing system associated with the version 3 release also allowed for updates to occur 7 days a week rather than only on most weekdays. Version 3 contains station-based measurements from well over 90,000 land-based stations worldwide, about two thirds of which are for precipitation measurement only.

GOES-R Surface and Insolation Products

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

GOES Surface and Insolation Products - The GOES Surface and Insolation Products (GSIP) is a high spatial resolution (1/8 x 1/8 degrees) solar radiation product estimated from the GOES-East and -West Imager radiance measurements hourly for the Extended Northern Hemisphere scan sector and every three hours for the Full Disk scan sector. The products contain upwelling and downwelling shortwave (0.2-4.0 micrometers) and visible (0.4-0.7 micrometers) radiative fluxes at the top of the atmosphere and at the surface, cloud fraction and skin temperature.

NCDC feed of Global Telecommunication System (GTS) marine observations in International Maritime Meteorological Archive (IMMA) Format

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The data contained here are surface marine observations from many different sources via the NCDC Global Telecommunication System (GTS) Marine in International Maritime Meteorological Archive (IMMA) format. The observations are obtained exclusively via the NCDC GTS stream and derives primarily from ships (merchant, ocean research, fishing, navy, etc.) and moored and drifting buoys. Each report contains individual observations of meteorological and oceanographic variables, such as sea surface and air temperatures, winds, pressure, humidity, wet bulb, dew point, ocean waves and cloudiness.

NOAA Climate Data Record (CDR) of Daily Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR), Version 1.2

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This Climate Data Record (CDR) contains the daily mean Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR) time series in global 1 degree x 1 degree equal-angle gridded maps spanning from January 1, 1979 to December 31, 2013, and continuing daily with a two-day lag. The OLR is estimated directly from the HIRS radiance observations for all sky conditions. The observations from imagers onboard international operational geostationary satellites are incorporated to improve the sampling of the OLR diurnal variation. The Daily OLR CDR is at its initial version 1.2.

Climate Forecast System Version 2 (CFSv2) Operational Forecasts

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Climate Forecast System Version 2 (CFSv2) produced by the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) is a fully coupled model representing the interaction between the Earth's oceans, land and atmosphere. The four-times-daily, 9-month control runs, consist of all 6-hourly forecasts, and the monthly means and variable time-series (all variables).
