Current velocity profiles taken by shipboard ADCP from the research vessel RV Atlantis in the Pacific Ocean from 2017-01-01 to 2017-01-09 (NCEI Accession 0309822)

The dataset contains profiles of current speed taken by ADCP from the research vessel RV Atlantis. The data were received, reviewed, and prepared for archival at the Joint Archive (JA) for Shipboard Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (SADCP), a collaboration of NOAA and the University of Hawaii Currents Group. The high frequency samples along with ancillary parameters are provided in the Common Oceanographic Data Access System (CODAS) binary format, from which long- and short-form NetCDF files are made. The long form holds an exact dump of the CODAS set.

NCCOS Mapping: Collaborative Benthic Habitat Mapping in the Nearshore Waters of the Great Lakes Basin – Periphyton Maps for Madeline Island, Lake Superior, 2007-10-12 to 2025-05-30 (NCEI Accession 0309847)

This dataset includes underwater photos and video frames, along with corresponding annotations of benthic substrates and communities, and their metadata collected around Madeline Island and Gull Island Shoal, Lake Superior. Underwater imagery was collected using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) led by Michigan Technological University (MTU), and a drop camera led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Great Lakes mapping cruise GL-23-01 from June 20 to August 4, 2023 (Menza et al. 2024).

Benthic Imagery from the Kahekili Herbivore Fisheries Management Area (HFMA)

Photoquadrat benthic images were collected within the Kahekili Herbivore Fisheries Management Area (KHFMA) in West Maui by the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) Ecosystem Sciences Division (ESD; formerly the Coral Reef Ecosystem Division) for quantifying benthic composition. This dataset is only the imagery; the benthic cover data produced have been archived separately in National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Accession 0165015. Photo-transects were taken at each site, with 25 photographs taken at 1m intervals.

Cruise SR2504 by research vessel Sally Ride in March 2025 had the objective to service moorings for the CCE and CORC projects (California Current Ecosystem, Consortium on the Ocean's Role in Climate), with additional data collections en route in the Southern California Bight. To calibrate and validate the mooring data, CTD casts with water samples were collected. The CTD data are reported here. The CTD data have been quality-controlled and adjusted using the water sample data.

This dataset contains profile discrete measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, pH on total scale, water temperature, salinity, nutrients, and oxygen collected during NOAA Ship Henry B. Bigelow cruise HB2401 (EXPOCODE 33HH20240217) in New York Bight, North Atlantic Ocean, Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary from 2024-02-17 to 2024-02-22. Increasing amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide from human industrial activities are causing changes in global ocean carbon chemistry ultimately resulting in a reduction in pH, a process termed ocean acidification.

Leakage Current Effects with Programmable Josephson Voltage Standards

This work presents the results of evaluating and measuring the dc leakage effects associated with Programmable Josephson Voltage Standards (PJVS). Two types of leakage error can occur in PJVS systems. The first type involves leakage currents to Earth ground, which can result from the resistance of cable insulation and the bias electronics. The second type is related to the voltage divider effect, caused by potential leakage paths on the precision output leads. Both effects can impact the measurement accuracy of the PJVS and must be monitored regularly.

This dataset includes near real-time global ocean temperature and salinity measurements taken by shipboard observers or automated instruments and received daily by the Marine Environmental Data Section (MEDS) of the Ocean Sciences Branch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada from the Global Telecommunication System (GTS) of the WMO World Weather Watch. MEDS applies the documented GTSPP quality assessment and duplicates removal procedures and forwards the quality-checked data three times each week to the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).
