Surface patterns of temperature, salinity, total alkalinity (TA), and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) across the Gulf of Mexico derived from the GoMBio model experiments from 1981-01-01 to 2014-12-31 (NCEI Accession 0242495)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains monthly-averaged surface fields of temperature, salinity, total alkalinity (TA), and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) derived from the GoMBio model for 1981-2014. GoMBio is a ROMS-based 8-km resolution ocean-biogeochemical model encompassing the entire Gulf of Mexico. Model details can be found in Gomez et al. (2018; https://doi.org/10.5194/bg-15-3561-2018) and Gomez et al. (2020; https://doi.org/10.5194/bg-17-1685-2020).

Dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, pH and other variables collected from surface discrete measurements using Coulometer, alkalinity titrator and other instruments from the Philippines from 2012-03-12 to 2015-06-03 (NCEI Accession 0242691)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains carbonate chemistry data from samples collected across the Philippines as part of the USAID-funded US Coral Triangle Initiative from 2012-03-12 to 2015-06-03. The project monitors changes to coral reef carbonate chemistry over time at coral reef sites within the Philippines by quantifying key chemical parameters that are expected to change with ocean acidification.

Fisheries Oceanography in Coastal Alabama (FOCAL) hydrographic data from mooring (2018-12-12 to 2019-05-16) (NCEI Accession 0242873)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The oceanographic community routinely collects time-series data of hydrographic properties (temperature and salinity) of the marine environment. Such data are essential for establishing baseline characteristics of marine and estuarine ecosystems. This hydrographic data is from CTDs and thermistors on a mooring line at a small coastal ocean observing site 25 kilometers southwest of the mouth of Mobile Bay, Alabama (30.0902 N 88.2116 W), that the Dauphin Island Sea Lab has been operating since 2004. These data were collected from December 12 2018 to May 16 2019.

Differential proteomic analysis of the massive star coral Orbicella faveolata exposed to experimentally elevated temperatures (NCEI Accession 0242879)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

An inshore-to-offshore gradient in reef coral resilience to high temperatures exists in the Upper Florida Keys, with massive corals of the highly turbid nearshore reefs demonstrating higher capacity to resist summer bleaching than offshore conspecifics.

NCCOS Assessment: Modeling at-sea density of marine birds to support renewable energy planning on the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf of the contiguous United States (NCEI Accession 0242882)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset provides seasonal spatial rasters of predicted long-term (1980-2017) density of 33 individual species and 13 taxonomic groups of marine birds throughout the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) and adjacent waters off the contiguous United States at 2-km spatial resolution. Two indications of the uncertainty associated with the model predictions are also provided: 1) seasonal spatial layers indicating areas with no survey effort and 2) seasonal spatial rasters of the precision of predicted density of each species/group characterized as its coefficient of variation (CV).

Shallow water Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) profiles at coral reef sites in Batangas, Philippines from 2015-05-23 to 2015-06-03 (NCEI Accession 0242952)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Shallow water conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) casts were performed by the NOAA Coral Reef Ecosystem Program (CREP) to characterize the spatial structure of the physical and chemical properties of the ocean environment at fixed climate sites located in coral reef habitats. This specific dataset represents the CTD casts performed alongside water samples in Batangas, Philippines in 2015.

Acropora spp. distribution in the upper Florida Keys 2013-2015 from 2018-06-19 to 2018-09-24 (NCEI Accession 0243126)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains data from visual surveys by snorkelers using handheld GPS units to map extant live colonies of the threatened corals Acropora palmata and A. cervicornis in the upper Florida Keys. Appropriate habitat strata were targeted and prioritized from habitat maps in 2005. An initial survey was conducted in 2005-2007 of these reef areas, and follow-up surveys were conducted in 2013-2015. In 2018 the sites were re-surveyed to assess changes in distribution and/or abundance at the same reef areas.
