Seaglider is a buoyancy driven autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed by scientists and engineers at the University of Washington's School of Oceanography and Applied Physics Laboratory. Seagliders are designed to glide from the ocean surface to a programmed depth and back while measuring temperature, salinity, depth-averaged current, and other quantities along a sawtooth trajectory through the water. Seaglider has entered wide use in scientific deployments. They are designed for missions in range of several thousand kilometers and durations of many months.

CTD data were collected during a Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center's Cetacean Research Program's shipboard cetacean survey (Cruise ID SE 09-01). CTD casts were conducted twice daily (before sunrise and after sunset) along the survey trackline. All casts were to 1000 m depth.

Processed CTD and water sample data from research vessel Roger Revelle, Expedition RR1214, in the NE Pacific on 2012-11-15 (NCEI Accession 0156228)

Expedition RR1214 by research vessel Roger Revelle was primarily a transit from French Polynesia to the US mainland. However, a small scientific program was conducted to recover moored instruments from the CORC project (Consortium on the Ocean's Role in Climate). To calibrate and validate the mooring data, two CTD casts and a small number of salinity water samples were collected; these data are reported here. The CTD salinity data have been quality-controlled and adjusted using the water sample data.

This is an archive of data from moorings deployed in Bering Strait from summer 2013 to summer 2014. Mooring deployments were funded by the ONR award N00014-13-1-0468 (PI: Woodgate) with shiptime support from the concurrent NSF-AON awards (Award ARC0855748, PIs: Woodgate, Weingartner, Lindsay and Whitledge; and Award PLR-1304052, PIs: Woodgate, Heimbach and Nguyen), in collaboration with the NOAA RUSALCA (Russian-US Long Term Census of the Arctic) program.

This dataset includes nutrient data related to algal and water samples collected between 2012 and 2014 on Maui, Hawaii, as part of the University of Hawaii SeaGrant Project R/HE-17. Algal tissue N%, C:N ratios, and delta N-15 values are reported for three species collected and or deployed at six study locations (Kahului Bay, Waiehu Bay, Kuau Bay, Honomanu Bay, Maalaea Bay, and Honolua Bay). Water was sampled from marine surface waters, streams, wells, coastal groundwater (beach porewater) and springs at many sites on Maui.

Oceanographic and fisheries data were collected during 1988 through 1991 through a multiagency research project to develop a remote sensing system to provide near real time image products to fishermen in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. The data included surface water temperatures, salinities, and chlorophyll samples acquired by boats and vessels and fish catch information reported by menhaden spotter pilots and vessel captains.

This dataset contains oceanographic and meteorological data collected during the Dedicated JPSS VIIRS Ocean Color Calibration/Validation Cruise (NF-14-09). The measured variables include optical backscatter, particulate organic carbon, pigments, salinity, water temperature, chromophoric dissolved matter (CDOM), chlorophyll, air temperature, wind direction and speed. The purpose of this cruise aboard NOAA Ship Nancy Foster was to collect in situ optical and ancillary data for validation of JPSS VIIRS satellite ocean color radiometry and derived products.

This dataset contains oceanographic data collected in the deep water areas around the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI). Operations for this cruise included ROV, mapping, telepresence-based remote participation, and CTD rosette operations. Operations also used the ship’s deep water mapping systems, NOAA’s two-body 6000 m remotely operated vehicle, and the ship’s high-bandwidth satellite connection for real-time ship to shore communications.
