These data include DELTA CARBON-13, DELTA CARBON-14, SALINITY, SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE and SIGMA-T. The instruments used to collect these data include not applicable.

Coral bleaching data from Bleachwatch in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary from 2016-05-17 to 2016-10-03 (NCEI Accession 0157068)

The initial onset of mass coral bleaching can vary among different species, geographic locations, types of reef zones and a fluctuation of severity, which makes it very difficult to predict where or when it will occur. The Florida Keys BleachWatch Program, modeled after Great Barrier Reef’s BleachWatch, is a team of trained recreational, commercial and scientific divers who help monitor and report on conditions at the reefs. After each visit to the reef, the divers complete a data form, either printed or online, and send it to the BleachWatch coordinator.

This dataset contains CTD profile data of dissolved oxygen, CDOM, chlorophyll a, temperature and salinity data that were collected during the East Coast Ocean Acidification (ECOA) Cruise on board NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter from Newport, took place in the Gulf of Maine and then along the East US coast to Miami. The effort was in support of the coastal monitoring and research objectives of the NOAA Ocean Acidification Program (OAP). The cruise was designed to obtain a snapshot of key carbon, physical, and biogeochemical parameters as they relate to ocean acidification (OA) in the coastal realm.

The effect of ocean acidification and prey availability on the growth of larval northern rock sole (Lepidopsetta polyxystra) (NCEI Accession 0157081)

This dataset contains laboratory experiment results of the effect of ocean acidification (OA) and prey availability on the growth of larval northern rock sole. Multiple aspects of climate change are expected to co-occur such that ocean acidification will take place in conjunction with warming and a range of trophic changes. Previous studies have demonstrated that nutritional condition plays a significant role in the responses of invertebrates to ocean acidification, but similar studies have yet to be conducted with marine fishes.

CTD and water sample data from research vessel Robert Gordon Sproul in the NE Pacific on 2013-10-24 (NCEI Accession 0157082)

The expedition by research vessel Robert Gordon Sproul from 23 to 25 October 2013 had the objective to recover a broken mooring from the CORC project (Consortium on the Ocean's Role in Climate) off southern California. To calibrate and validate the mooring data, one CTD cast with salinity water samples was done on the 24th; these data are reported here. The CTD salinity data have been quality-controlled and adjusted using the water sample data. The raw CTD data files are included for completeness as well.

Behavior of parrotfishes (Labridae, Scarinae) in St. Croix from 2015-07-06 to 2015-07-26 (NCEI Accession 0157087)

To better understand the functional roles of parrotfishes on coral reefs in the Caribbean this project documented the foraging behavior and diets of six species of parrotfishes (Scarus taeniopterus, Scarus vetula, Sparisoma aurofrenatum, Sparisoma chrysopterum, Sparisoma rubripinne, Sparisoma viride) at three locations (Long Reef, Cane Bay, and Buck Island) on the north shore of St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Islands. To quantify parrotfish behavior, approximately six individuals of each species were observed at each site for 20 min each.

This dataset contains oceanographic data collected in deep water areas south and southeast of the flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary (FGBNMS), including Keathley Canyon and adjacent parts of the Sigsbee Escarpment, and areas on the West Florida Escarpment southwest of Tampa. Daily ROV dives were conducted with full shore-based science participation. Evening and nighttime mapping and CTD operations were also conducted and focused in depths less than 500 m.
