Pacific Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program: Stratified random surveys (StRS) of coral demography and condition across the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands from 2007-09-21 to 2012-08-19 (NCEI Accession 0184869)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The data described here result from benthic coral demographic surveys across the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands from September 21, 2007 to August 19, 2012. Sites were surveyed using belt transects to collect adult coral colony metrics, including colony size, partial mortality in two categories - old dead and recent dead, and non-lesion forming condition including bleaching and disease.

Census Data of Colonial Penguins in Antarctica from 1977 to 2015 (NCEI Accession 0185113)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Census data were collected from two penguin monitoring sites in the Antarctic peninsula region between 1977 and 2015 using traditional census methods. Seabirds observed in this study are Adélie (Pygoscelis adeliae), chinstrap (P. antarctica), and gentoo (P. papua) penguins. The two study sites are the US AMLR Program sites at Cape Shirreff (Livingston Island) and Copacabana (King George Island) Antarctica.

Oceanographic data collected during the EX1812 Caribbean/South Atlantic Bight ROV and Mapping expedition on NOAA Ship OKEANOS EXPLORER in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2018-11-28 to 2018-12-16 (NCEI Accession 0185704)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains oceanographic data collected from NOAA Ship OKEANOS EXPLORER in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2018-11-28 to 2018-12-16. Data acquisition from shipboard sensors includes navigational data, meteorological data (conductivity, depth, echo sounder, temperature, wind, wind speed), and oceanographic data (bathythermograph, salinity, sound velocity probe, thermosalinograph). Additional data include Profile Data (ASVP, CTD, and XBT) and Submersible Sensor Data (Vehicles).

Carbonate Chemistry Dynamics on Southeast Florida coral reefs from 2014-05-27 to 2015-09-03 (NCEI Accession 0185741)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These data are from the article “Seasonal carbonate chemistry dynamics on southeast Florida coral reefs: localized acidification hotspots from navigational inlets” published in Frontiers in Marine Science. The data in this package were collected from inlets and reefs along the coast of Southeast Florida. Water was collected bi-monthly from four reefs (Oakland Ridge, Barracuda, Pillars, and Emerald) and three closely-associated inlets (Port Everglades, Bakers Haulover, and Port of Miami).

Climatology for NOAA Coral Reef Watch (CRW) Daily Global 5km Satellite Coral Bleaching Heat Stress Monitoring Product Suite Version 3.1 for 1985-01-01 to 2012-12-31 (NCEI Accession 0185742)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This package contains a set of 12 monthly mean (MM) climatologies, one for each calendar month, and the maximum monthly mean (MMM) climatology. Each climatology has global coverage at 0.05-degree (5km) spatial resolution. The climatologies were derived from NOAA Coral Reef Watch's (CRW) CoralTemp Version 1.0 product and are based on the 1985-2012 time period of the CoralTemp data. They are used in deriving CRW's Daily Global 5km Satellite Coral Bleaching Heat Stress Monitoring Product Suite Version 3.1.

Dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, pH, and other variables collected from surface discrete observations onboard R/V Joe Ferguson in the U.S. East Coast near Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary for 2012-02-02 (NCEI Accession 0185764)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains discrete bottle sample data collected from the Gray's Reef mooring, within the Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary in February. Samples were collected from the surface layer, treated with 0.1 µL of HgCl2, stored on ice, and transported to the University of Delaware for DIC and TAlk analysis. Data is used to calculate pCO2 and compared to moored observations for internal consistency and validation of time series observations.

Parrotfish census and foraging parameters in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary from 2013-05-01 to 2013-07-31 (NCEI Accession 0185785)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Parrotfishes were surveyed using two different methods:

1. the Reef Visual Census program (See Smith et al 2011 and Brandt et al 2009 and https://grunt.sefsc.noaa.gov/rvc_analysis20/ for more information about this program) has been conducting a visual survey of reef fish species throughout the Florida Keys since 1978.

2. The roving diver survey (see Adam et al 2015) was used in 2013 to collect data on parrotfishes only at several reefs in the Upper Florida Keys.
