Zooplankton and ichthyoplankton abundance and distribution in the North Atlantic collected by the Ecosystem Monitoring (EcoMon) Project from 1977-02-13 to 2023-11-15 (NCEI Accession 0187513)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains zooplankton and ichthyoplankton distribution and abundance, sea surface and bottom water temperatures and salinities collected during the shelf-wide fisheries surveys for the Ecosystem Monitoring Program (EcoMon) from 1977-02-13 to 2023-11-15. The surveys are conducted 6-7 times per year over the continental shelf from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina to Cape Sable, Nova Scotia, using NOAA research ships or charter vessels. The Cape Hatteras to Cape Sable area is divided into four regions, and 30 randomly selected stations are targeted for sampling from each region.

Ice coverage, phytoplankton layer strength, and others collected from Twin Otter aircraft N57RF in Chukchi Sea and Beaufort Sea from 2017-07-18 to 2017-07-31 (NCEI Accession 0187514)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

We flew an oceanographic profiling lidar over sections of the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas during the last half of July, 2017. The lidar returns were processed to obtain ice coverage and to identify subsurface phytoplankton layers. The identified layers were further analyzed to obtain their scattering strength relative to the background water value, their depth, and their thickness. Additional, power spectral density functions of selected transects over Barrow Canyon were calculated to investigate turbulence levels within the canyon.

Water temperature, salinity, and sound speed collected by CTD from the research vessel C-Wolf in the Gulf of Mexico, Approaches to Tampa, FL from 2018-08-19 to 2019-02-05 (NCEI Accession 0187660)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains water temperature, salinity, and sound speed data collected for the OPR-J317-KR-18 project under contract with NOAA. Sea Bird Electronics SBE19plus CTD sensors were used for in-situ measurements through the water column. Casts were conducted at least once a day on board R/V C-Wolf and more often as needed. Dual CTDs were obtained periodically to ensure proper working order of sensors. Data are in ASCII (cnv) format.

Coral histopathological slides and associated documentation from samples received on 2008-12-02 from Bette Willis for the Coral Virtual Microscopy project of NOAA (NCEI Accession 0187716)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains scanned images of coral histological slides that were scanned into pyramidal tiled TIFF images (Aperio SVS file format). The slides have been collected by Bette Willis' and have been provided to NOAA for scanning. The dataset also includes histopathological descriptions and other metadata including location, date collected, genus, species, and contributor.

Dauphin Island, Alabama: elevation change and beach background oiling from 2018-03-08 to 2018-12-06 (NCEI Accession 0187809)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Raw data in the form of observations, measurements, GPS coordinates, and photographs were generated during every elevation survey. Beach surveys resulted in elevation data relative to a fixed supratidal starting point. Bi-monthly surveys as well as post storm surveys were completed in accordance with team availability and weather constraints. Furthermore, windows of surveying were chosen during ideal tidal and weather conditions. These data are organized by date of survey and transect name.

Water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and other parameters collected by CTD from the research vessel Sally Ride, cruises SR1706 and SR1707, in the north Pacific Ocean offshore California from 2017-03-05 to 2017-03-11 (NCEI Accession 0187860)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains water temperature, salinity, and other parameters collected by CTD from research vessel Sally Ride, cruises SR1706 and SR1707, offshore California from 2017-03-05 to 2017-03-11. These cruises had, among others, the objective to service the CCE2 mooring (California Current Ecosystem). To calibrate and validate the mooring data, CTD casts with water samples were done. The CTD data are reported here. The CTD salinity data have been quality-controlled and adjusted using the water sample data.

Water temperature, salinity, and sound speed collected by CTD from research vessels C-Wolf and Sea Scout in the Gulf of Mexico approaches to Tampa, FL from 2018-10-17 to 2019-03-02 (NCEI Accession 0187861)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains water temperature, salinity, and sound speed collected/calculated for the OPR-J317-KR-18 project under contract with NOAA. Sea Bird Electronics SBE19plus CTD sensors were used for in-situ measurements through the water column. Casts were conducted at least once a day on board the research vessel Sea Scout and more often as needed. Dual CTD casts were acquired every time on the Sea Scout. For this particular project area, the research vessel C-Wolf collected only one cast; no additional cast was necessary. Data are in ASCII (cnv) format.
