Users should only use this version for special cases, such as reproducing studies that used this version.* The Intersatellite Calibrated Gridded Satellite Data from International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) B1 data (or GridSat-B1) provides a uniform set of quality controlled observations for the infrared (IR) window channel at 11 microns for a 30 year record beginning in 1980.

Users should only use this version for special cases, such as reproducing studies that used this version.* The Pathfinder Atmospheres - Extended (PATMOS-x) Reflectance data contain derived atmospheric variables from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) Global Area Coverage (GAC) data observed from three decades of the NOAA Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite (POES) series.

Version 3b (v3b) of the Extended Reconstructed Sea Surface Temperature (ERSST) dataset is a monthly SST analysis on a 2-degree global grid based on the International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS) Release 2.4. ERSST v3b is generated using in situ SST data and improved statistical methods that allow stable reconstruction using sparse data throughout the 150 year record. The monthly SST analysis extends from January 1854 to the present month, but because of sparse data coverage in the early years, the analyzed signal is damped before 1880.

Users should not use this version except in rare cases (e.g., when reproducing previous studies that used this version). The precipitation subset of this dataset is still the latest version available.** The Global Historical Climatology Network Monthly (GHCN-M) Version 2 dataset created by the NCDC contains historical temperature, precipitation, and pressure data for thousands of land stations worldwide.

**Please note, GHCN-Monthly provides climatological observations for four elements; monthly mean maximum temperature, minimum temperature, mean temperature, and monthly total precipitation. Precipitation are available in version 2, monthly mean maximum and minimum temperature in version 3, and monthly mean temperature is also now available in the Version 4 BETA release.

The Blended Global Sea Surface Winds products contain ocean surface wind vectors and wind stress on a global 0.25 degree grid, in multiple time resolutions of 6-hourly and monthly, with an 11-year (1995-2005) monthly climatology. Daily files from a direct average of the 6-hourly data were also produced but are not included in this archive. The period of record is July 9, 1987 to September 30, 2011 for product Version 1.2, released in July 2007.

The National Solar Radiation Database (NSRDB) was produced by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The NSRDB update is a collection of hourly values of the three most common measurements of solar radiation (i.e., global horizontal, direct normal, and diffuse horizontal) over a period of time adequate to establish means and extremes and at a sufficient number or locations to represent regional solar radiation climates.

The National Solar Radiation Database (NSRDB) was produced by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory under the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The 1991-2010 NSRDB is an update of the 1991-2005 NSRDB released in 2006 and archived at NCDC. The serially complete hourly data provided in the NSRDB update are provided in two output formats: 1) ground-based solar and meteorological dataset, and 2) 10 km gridded output produced by the SUNY model.

The global land surface temperature databank contains monthly timescale mean, max, and min temperature for approximately 40,000 stations globally. It was developed as part of the International Surface Temperature Initiative. This is the global repository for all monthly timescale land surface observations from the 1800s to present and uses data deriving from sub-daily, daily, and monthly observations.

The Global Land Surface Temperature Databank contains monthly timescale mean, maximum, and minimum temperature for approximately 40,000 stations globally. It was developed as part of the International Surface Temperature Initiative. This is the global repository for all monthly timescale land surface observations from the 1800s to present and uses data deriving from sub-daily, daily, and monthly observations. It brings together data from more than 45 sources to create a single merged dataset.
