NCCOS Assessment: Investigating the effects of chronic turbidity exposure to priority Florida coral species, Orbicella faveolata 2023-09-19 to 2023-12-12 (NCEI Accession 0303582)

This dataset is comprised of many biochemical analyses performed throughout the course of a 90-day laboratory exposure experiments to determine the chronic effects of fine-sediment generated turbidity on the health of Orbicella faveolata coral nubbins. Biological endpoints such as photographs, buoyant weight and PAM fluorometry measurements were performed weekly, while tissue regeneration post-wounding, dry weight, total lipids, total proteins, and symbiont density were calculated at the end of the 90 day exposure.

SPLASH Field Study; HELiX UAS Solar Irradiance data from 2022-03-12 to 2022-06-04 (NCEI Accession 0303584)

From fall 2021 through summer 2023, NOAA and research partners conducted a field study (SPLASH - the Study of Precipitation, the Lower Atmosphere and Surface for Hydrometeorology). This field study established a state-of-the-art observing network in the East River watershed of the Colorado mountains with a goal of advancing weather and water prediction capabilities in areas with complex terrain. The ultimate goal of this project is improved prediction of weather and water in the Colorado mountains and beyond to inform societal preparedness and response.

Thermal Springs List for the United States (NCEI Accession 0303600)

Geothermics is the study of heat generated in Earth's interior and its manifestation at the surface. The NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information has a variety of publications and data sets which provide information on the location, magnitude, and potential uses of geothermal resources. The publication, "Thermal Springs List for the United States" (1981) is a compilation of 1,700 thermal springs locations in 23 states. The list gives the geographic locations of thermal springs by state, and is sorted by degrees of latitude and longitude within the state.

U.S. Earthquake Intensity Database (1638–1985) (NCEI Accession 0303634)

The U.S. Earthquake Intensity Database (1638–1985) is a collection of damage and felt reports for more than 23,000 U.S. earthquakes. The database contains information regarding epicentral coordinates, magnitudes, focal depths, names, and coordinates of reporting cities/ localities, reported intensities, and the distances to the epicenter. Earthquakes listed in the file date from 1638 to 1985. The majority of the felt reports are in the U.S. States and Territories (155,301).

This dataset includes data collected in support of the Ecosystems & Fisheries-Oceanography Coordinated Investigations (EcoFOCI) project, including mooring time-series data, CTD profile data, discrete nutrient bottle samples, and ocean currents data. The data was collected from various platforms including ships and moorings in the North Pacific Ocean and Arctic Sea. The data was collected between 1979 and 2022.

XBT data assembled by US NOAA Atlantic Oceanographic Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) XBT Network since 1969

The NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) has been collecting temperature profiles from expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) along 12 pre-determined transects spanning the entire Atlantic Ocean. Each of the transects are generally surveyed four times per year with "Deep Blue" XBT probes from Sippican, which return temperature from the sea surface to a depth of ~900 m. XBTs are generally deployed with a spacing of 10 km near boundaries/regions with strong currents and 30 km in the ocean interior.

This dataset contains water temperature, and salinity profiles taken by CTD during Pacific Oceanographic Cruises XXX - LX, including Regional Study of the El Niño Phenomenon (ERFEN) cruises XXVIII - XXXVII and Joint Regional Oceanographic Research cruises VI - XXIII, between October 16th, 1998, and September 25th, 2020, by the Pacific Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research Center (CCCP) of the Colombian General Maritime Directorate (DIMAR), aboard the research vessels ARC Malpelo, ARC Gorgona, and ARC Providencia.

This dataset includes oceanographic profile temperature, salinity, currents, nutrients, and other measurements collected using bottle, CTD, XBT, and XCTD and processed by the Japan Oceanographic Data Center (JODC). These data were measured by a number of Japanese research institutions from Japanese vessels and stations, in seas world-wide, from 1935 to 2021.

Louisiana Hypoxia Surveys 1998-2023: Physical (Hydrography), chemical (CTD), and biological (Water Quality) processes of the Texas-Louisiana continental shelf

CTD data were taken during surveys of the Louisiana continental shelf during yearly Shelfwide Hypoxia cruises. Hydrographic data were obtained using CTD. Nutrient, pigment, suspended sediment, surface salinity, Secchi depth, and station information data were also acquired.

Sea Turtle Beaching Probability Index (BPI) in the Northern Gulf of America from 2017-01-01 to present

This dataset contains the sea turtle beaching probability index (BPI) for the northern Gulf of America region since 2017-01-01. The data files are in CSV and JPEG formats. The daily CSV files contain beaching probability indexes with latitudes, longitudes, total accumulations, and stranding density log scaled radii (for plotting). The yearly CSV files contain daily accumulated BPI for the nine predefined regions. The daily JPEG files are BPI spatial distribution plots for these regions.
