This project was part of a team effort by NOAA, the EPA, the State of Michigan, and the USGS to collect samples of sediments within the Manistique Harbor Area of Concern to better delineate the arial extent and depth of PCB contamination in sediments. NOAA collected samples within 3 zones only, zones 3, 4, and 6. A total of 32 different locations were selected based on where it had been determined that data was inadequate.

Soil salinity data from Grand Liard Bayou and flanking marshes, New Orleans, LA, 2015-12-01 to 2016-03-30 (NCEI Accession 0151634)

The project restored both structural and habitat functions of Grand Liard Bayou and flanking marshes. The project created and nourished marsh and restored a ridge on the east bank of Bayou Grand Liard. Approximately 50% of the created marsh will be planted with smooth cordgrass, and the entire ridge will be planted with appropriate woody vegetation. Soil samples to be taken every 6 months over a 2- to 3-year period due to concerns about high salinities of the ridge soils affecting survivability of the planted woody vegetation.

Monthly and 3-day mean Level-3 satellite Sea Surface Salinity created by National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) from the European Space Agency Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission in support of the NCEI level-2 data quality monitoring from 2010-06-01 to 2017-05-09 (NCEI Accession 0151732)

Aiming for near-real-time data-quality monitoring of the satellite sea surface salinity (SSS) Level-2 products, the satellite oceanography team of NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) has generated 1.0-degree Level-3 gridded experimental products from the European Space Agency (ESA) Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission. The datasets are comprised of monthly and 3-day mean and generated directly from SMOS V6.22 Level-2 products. The Level-2 swath data is interpolated onto a 1.0-degree grid using equal-weighted box (“bin”) averaging.

Physical data collected from Seaglider SG014 during WA Coast April 2006 in the North Pacific Ocean, Coastal Waters of Washington/Oregon deployed from 2006-04-24 to 2006-11-09 (NCEI Accession 0156076)

Seaglider is a buoyancy driven autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed by scientists and engineers at the University of Washington's School of Oceanography and Applied Physics Laboratory. Seagliders are designed to glide from the ocean surface to a programmed depth and back while measuring temperature, salinity, depth-averaged current, and other quantities along a sawtooth trajectory through the water. Seaglider has entered wide use in scientific deployments. They are designed for missions in range of several thousand kilometers and durations of many months.

Carbonate data collected from R/V Hildebrand in the SEFCRI region of the Florida Reef Tract from 2014-05-27 to 2015-09-02 (NCEI Accession 0157022)

This data set includes seawater chemistry that was collected in coral reef habitats located within the SEFCRI region as well as inlets and outfalls that release nutrient rich and/or sediment laden freshwater to the coastal waters South Florida. Freshwater runoff and riverine inputs are known to be enriched in dissolved inorganic carbon, and diluted lower saline waters are known to have elevated pCO2 (e.g., Manzello et al. 2013) which is why those areas in addition to the reef sites were included in our analyses.

WATER TEMPERATURE and SALINITY - SURFACE WATER, and other parameters collected from R.V. Celtic Explorer in Mid-Atlantic Ridge from 2016-05-12 to 2016-05-21 (NCEI Accession 0157069)

This dataset contains in situ sea surface measurements from R.V. Celtic Explorer in Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The survey was conducted between May 12th and May 21, 2016 and consist of a single transit line collected from St. Johns to Galway. Survey was conducted at high speed of 10-12 kt due to time constraints and the need to reach the priority area in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR) where sampling and video drops (data not included in this accession) were acquired.

Inverted echo sounder (IES) data were collected as part of the Sub-Antarctic Flux and Dynamics Experiment (SAFDE) during March 1995 -- March 1997 conducted south of Australia. The collection, processing and calibration of the IES data are described in the report provided. These are the highest quality versions of the data after the least amount of processing. Also provided are low-passed filtered versions that have been calibrated to a common pressure level in order that the data may be used together more conveniently.

This dataset contains oceanographic data, which were collected from 25 gliders in the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Lake Michigan and other locations. Data include 24721 temperature profiles, 24718 salinity profiles, hydrostatic pressure, current speed, current direction, and other measurements. Data were collected by 10 institutions in support of the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) Program. Data were collected from 2012-10-06 to 2015-09-17.
