Laboratory experimental growth and development responses of larval walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) experiencing ocean acidification conditions from 2018-04-04 to 2018-05-17 (NCEI Accession 0258039)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains data from manipulated experimental seawater chemistry conditions and walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) larval development, swimming behavior, and lipid composition responses. The experiment took place from April 4-May 17, 2018 in the Alaska Fisheries Science Center laboratory research facilities at Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon. Larvae were obtained from natural spawning of laboratory-acclimated broodstock adults. Experiments occurred from fertilization to 4 weeks post-hatch at ambient (~ 425 µatm) and elevated (~ 1230 µatm) CO2 levels.

Benthic Cover Derived from Benthic Images Collected Across the Hawaiian Archipelago from 2019-08-27 to 2019-11-14 During a Bleaching Event (NCEI Accession 0259266)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The data described here result from benthic photo-quadrat surveys conducted along transects at stratified random sites (StRS) and fixed sites surveyed in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (NWHI) and the Main Hawaiian Islands (MHI) during bleaching event in 2019. This benthic cover dataset follows a typical benthic image analysis, but includes options for bleaching in imagery annotations. Benthic habitat imagery was quantitatively analyzed using the web-based annotation tool CoralNet (Beijbom et al. 2016) with the addition of codes for bleaching of hard coral.

GOBAI-O2: A Global Gridded Monthly Dataset of Ocean Interior Dissolved Oxygen Concentrations Based on Shipboard and Autonomous Observations (NCEI Accession 0259304)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains a global gridded data product of observation-based ocean interior dissolved oxygen concentrations. The data product is called GOBAI-O2 for Gridded Ocean Biogeochemistry from Artificial Intelligence - Oxygen. The dissolved oxygen fields were constructed by training machine learning algorithms with observations from shipboard analyses and autonomous profiling floats, then applying those trained algorithms to global gridded fields of temperature and salinity.

We characterized the pH environment currently experienced by Euphausia pacifica eggs and larvae at 2 stations in the northern end of Hood Canal in Puget Sound, Washington, USA (47.61, -122.94 and 47.66, -122.86; Puget Sound Regional Synthesis Model [PRISM] stations P14 and P15). The southwest station, P14, is deeper (180 m) than the northeastern station, P15 (130 m). Samples were collected during the day and night on 9−10 April and 15−16 June 2012. This design was chosen to sample during the spawning season of E.
