AFSC/RACE/GAP/Nichol: Archival tag depth and temperature data from northern rock sole

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Depth data from archival tags on northern rock sole (Lepidopsetta polyxystra) were examined to assess whether fish used tidal currents to aid horizontal migration. Two northern rock sole, out of 115 released with archival tags in the eastern Bering Sea, were recovered 314 and 667 days after release. Both fish made periodic excursions away from the bottom during mostly nighttime hours, but also during particular phases of the tide cycle. One fish that was captured and released in an area of rotary cur rents made vertical excursions that were correlated with tidal current direction.

AFSC/RACE/GAP/Nichol: Archival tag depth and temperature data from Pacific cod

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Data from 250 recaptured (624 released) depth and temperature recording archival (data storage) tags attached to Pacific cod off Kodiak Island and in the eastern Bering Sea from 2001 to 2003, were used to describe the vertical movement patterns of Pacific cod. Three publications resulted from the research with subject matter including: 1) P. cod behavior as related to barotrauma; 2) P. cod vertical distribution as related to survey trawl catchability; 3) P. cod diel vertical migration. Please see publications for more detail.

AFSC/RACE/GAP/Nichol: Archival tag depth and temperature data from red king crab

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

In December of 2009, a total of 135 adult male red king crab (Paralithodes camtschaticus) were tagged with depth and temperature recording archival tags and released in eastern Bering Sea for the purpose of tracking their seasonal migrations. A total of 2 crab were recaptured by the commercial fishery after being at liberty for 315 and 330 days

AFSC/RACE/GAP/Nichol: Archival tag depth and temperature data from snow crab

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Seasonal migration of commercial-size (=102 mm carapace width [CW]), morphometrically mature (MM) snow crabs (Chionoecetes opilio) from the eastern Bering Sea was examined in relation to the summer distribution of mature females to identify spatiotemporal overlap of males and females and determine the likelihood of mating associations for specific reproductive stages.

AFSC/RACE/GAP/Orr: Bering Sea Slope groundfish surveys Identification Confidence

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This report includes an identification confidence matrix for all fishes and invertebrates identified from the EBS slope triennial and biennial surveys from 1976 through 2010. The matrix lists a confidence level, with frequency of occurrence and numbers of vouchered lots, for each taxon for each survey year.

AFSC/RACE/GAP/Laman: Model Results of Aleutian Island POP distributions

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The data supporting the "Model Results of Aleutian Island POP distributions" manuscript are distribution and abundance of Pacific ocean perch from RACEBase, distribution of biogenic structures from RACEBase, coincident observations of environmental covariates, and some modeled habitat covariates used to assess relationships between POP distribution and abundance and their habitat. Time frame is 1997-2010 and geographic area is Aleutian Islands.

AFSC/RACE/GAP/Palsson: Globe navigation data collected during the Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands Biennial Bottom Trawl Survey

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These data are haul positions and haul depths collected throughout the Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands groundfish trawl surveys.

Vessel positions are recorded using Globe software installed on a computer that is also connected to a real time Global Positioning System unit and depth sounder for depth data. The log files are in a binary GLOBE format that is proprietary.

AFSC/RACE/GAP/McConnaughey: Dabob Bay USBL planned survey line

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The trials were conducted in Dabob Bay, Washington, in May 1998. The main objective of these trials was to determine an accurate and reliable system to track a fishing trawl. Three USBL vendors were invited and agreed to participate in the trials. Nautronix Ltd. (Nautronix) provided their ATS II system, Simrad Subsea A/S (Simrad) provided their ITI system, and Ocean Research Equipment, Inc. (ORE) submitted their Trackpoint II Plus system. A local ORE distributor, MECCO, Inc. (MECCO), provided and operated the Trackpoint II Plus system. The U.S.
