Honolulu Retail Monitoring Fish Price Data Collection (2016)
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
This data set contains consumer-level prices for a sample of retail markets in Honolulu for 2016. Data include weekly prices for fish species prevalent in Honolulu retail seafood markets. Additionally, each record contains information on the product form, origin of the fish (if known), labeling schemes, quality (where applicable), and the use of preservation methods (such as CO-treatment).

Habitat Ecology Visual Surveys of Demersal Fishes and Habitats off California
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Since 1992, the Habitat Ecology team has been conducting fishery independent, visual surveys of demersal fishes and associated habitats in deep water (20 to 900 meters) off California, using manned submersibles, remotely-operated vehicles, and towed cameras equipped with video cameras, lasers, and CTD. This relational database contains information on counts, sizes, species and habitat types of demersal fishes, corals, and sponges, and location and amount of area surveyed.

Cooperative Trap Survey for Nearshore Groundfish
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
This pilot study is designed to evaluate a fishery-independent, cooperative sampling methodology for nearshore groundfish species, with an emphasis on species in the genus Sebastes (rockfishes). Trawl surveys off the U.S. West Coast currently do not sample waters shallower than 55 meters, and avoid high-relief habitat. In 2012, the pilot study focused on sampling procedures for untrawlable habitat in depths between 10 and 60 meters. Catch of finfish by cruise, set, and trap is processed at the lab. Fish are identified to species, measured (fork length), and sexed.

Distribution, growth, and condition of salmonids in the central California Current Ecosystem.
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
The Fisheries Ecology Division of NOAA’s SWFSC conducted annual surveys of salmon and their ocean habitat in the coastal waters of northern California and southern Oregon from 1998-2016. We used a surface trawl to collect juvenile and subadult salmonids, including several ESA-listed populations of Chinook and coho salmon and steelhead. We also quantified other coastal pelagic fish and invertebrates that co-occur with salmon, and we measured spatially matched biological and physical oceanographic variables.

Data from "Crossing to safety: Dispersal, colonization and mate choice in evolutionarily distinct populations of Steller sea lions, Eumetopias jubatus."
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Data sets used to support analysis published by O'Corry-Crowe et al (2014) Crossing to safety: Dispersal, colonization and mate choice in evolutionarily distinct populations of Steller sea lions, Eumetopias jubatus. Molecular Ecology 23(22): 5415-5434. Data include Steller sea lion genetic data obtained from samples collected from pups on natal rookeries. The genetic data are genotypes at 16 microsatellite loci and haplotypes at mtDNA, spatial data, and allelic and haplotypic frequencies.

EOP Settlement colonization and succession patterns of gold coral Kulamana haumeaae in Hawaiian deep coral assemblages
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Relational tabular data on corals relevant to the parasitic life history of gold coral. Surveys conducted throughout the Hawaiian Archipelago with attention on colonies of mature gold corals, their bamboo coral hosts and other soft corals. Data was derived from review and seeing video from submersible surveys.

Determine movement patterns and survival rates of Central Valley Chinook salmon, steelhead and their predators using acoustic tags.
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
The project’s objective is to document movement patterns and survival rates of Chinook salmon, steelhead, green sturgeon, and other fish from several sources in the Central Valley of California. Juvenile salmonids from hatcheries or wild caught are implanted with small acoustic transmitters and the location of the fish are recorded on receivers that are placed throughout the watershed from Redding to the Golden Gate. Over 70 receiver locations with over 150 receivers monitor the movement of these fish.

EOP Habitat and reef fish assemblages of banks in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Relational data table for SCUBA diving surveys on the bank of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, which were published in a manuscript named in the title above. These data and other SCUBA surveys of the atoll of French Frigate Shoals (FFS) and its mesophotic slopes were used in the FFS monk seal Ecopath analysis. Also included is a sand trawl data set that was used to describe the fish community living in sand fields on the slope.

EOP Acoustic tagging and monitorings of cultured and wild juvenile crimson jobfish (Pristipomoides filamentosus) in a nursery habitat
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Raw data from Vemco receivers that monitored the Kaneohe, Oahu nursery grounds while tagged juvenile snapper were released in 2006 (cultured) and 2007 (wild). Also included are raw temperature time series from thermographs mounted 5m above the bottom with the receiver.
