Northern fur seal foraging behavior and prey fields in the Bering Sea, Alaska during July-October 2006

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These data were used by Kuhn et al. (2015) to investigate how conclusions about predator-prey relationships change with increasing temporal disparity between predator tracking periods and prey surveys. Northern fur seals (n = 20) from St. Paul Island (Alaska, USA) were equipped with satellite tracking transmitters and time-depth recorders from July to October 2006. Fur seal dive and movement metrics were examined in relation to the relative abundance of the fur seals’ primary prey, walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus), reported from the annual eastern Bering Sea groundfish survey.

St Lucie Rod and Reel Fish Health Study

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Data provide presence/absence of gross abnormalities on individual fish, identified to species, to allow calculation of the proportion of fish caught that had externally visible abnormalities. Accounting kept track of type of abnormality. Sampling was conducted weekly in the middle estuary and the outer estuary (inlet) and data were summarized by month.

Caribbean ST Thomas all gears Logbook Survey (Vessels)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set contains catch (landed catch) and effort for fishing trips made by vessels fishing in St. Thomas. The catch and effort data for the entire trip are reported on a single form (i.e., one form per trip).

Columbia waters treaty Logbook Survey (Vessels)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set will contains catch (landed catch) and effort for fishing trips made by vessels fishing in Columbian waters. Because the soak time for these fisheries is relatively short, it is infeasible to require fishermen to complete a separate form every time the gear is deployed. Thus, the catch and effort data for the entire trip are reported on a single form (i.e., one form per trip).

Loggerhead oral cavity morphometry study (NCEI Accession 0164321)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Standard external morphometrics and internal oral cavity morphometrics data were collected on wild and captive reared loggerhead sea turtles in size classes ranging from 25-95 cm straight carapace length. These data will be used to investigate the behavioral and physiological characteristics of incidental capture interactions in longline fisheries.

Captive reared loggerhead sea turtles Hook and bait interaction trials From 2004-2007

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Hook and bait interaction feeding response data from experiments with captive reared loggerhead sea turtles ranging from 45 - 65 cm straight carapace length) were collected with 16 combinations of bait (squid or sardines, single or threaded baiting style) and hooks (14/0, 16/0, 18/0 and 20/0) during 2004-2005. A second phase of trials were conducted in 2006-2007 to test a similar range of hooks with wire appendages.
