Radiofrequency identification technology and sea turtles
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
This study investigated the compatibility of various PIT tag scanner technologies and available PIT tag frequencies, as well as testing the read depth potential of Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags and scanners with different frequency/manufacturer combinations. Unit variability between individual units was also investigated. This information will benefit tagging studies for sea turtle monitoring and life history research by maximizing the likelihood that previously marked turtles would be identified during future encounters.

Southeast Region Headboat Survey-Headboat Activity Report
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
HARs themselves are a quality assurance/compliance tracking tool used to verify the accuracy/completeness of the submitted trip reports. The trip (date, type, number of anglers) would be recorded on the HAR but the trip report data would be estimated so as to limit the effects of recall bias.To adjust for misreporting, port agents maintain a headboat activity report for each vessel by month and attempted to account for every day within the month. Information for the headboat activity reports are obtained from office records, ticket agents, vessel logs, dock masters, etc.

Sea turtle acoustic and radio telemetry data in the Atlantic Ocean from 2013-2014 (NCEI Accession 0160089)
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
This data contains acoustic tag readings that were attached to sea turtles that were captured in various fishing gears. These sea turtles were either actively or passively tracked to record movement and determine habitat preference. This data set also contains radio telemetry data from one sea turtle that was tracked by both radio and acoustic telemetry

ROUNDSCALE SPEARFISH branchiostegal morphometric data
Data provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
The morphometric characteristics that separate white marlin Kajikia albidus from roundscale spearfish Tetrapturus georgii can be difficult for non-experts to distinguish, particularly when the animals are in the water. Using the measurements of the lower jaw tip to the longest branchiostegal ray (LJBR) and the opercle (LJOP), a discriminant function is presented that will help field observers separate the two species.
