hab119_0601c -- Habitat polygons for HMPR-119-2006-01c survey in Olympic Coast national marine sanctuary.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Benthic habitat polygon coverages are being created for the Olympic Coast national marine sanctuary (OCNMS).ROV, towed camera sled, bathymetry data, sedimentary samples, and sonar mapping have been integrated to describe the geological, biological, and oceanographic aspects of habitat. OCNMS has collected side scan sonar and video data to produce polygon coverages. The habitat polygons have attributes for megahabitat, bottom induration, mesohabitat, macrohabitat and biology (where direct observations are available), polygon area and perimeter.

Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary - hab120_0602a - Habitat polygons for HMPR-120-2006-02a survey

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Benthic habitat polygon coverages are being created for the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary (OCNMS). OCNMS has collected side scan sonar, multibeam backscatter, multibeam bathymetry, bottom grab and video data to produce polygon coverages describing seafloor substrate for various areas within the sanctuary. The habitat polygons have attributes for megahabitat, bottom induration, mesohabitat, macrohabitat, polygon area and perimeter.

Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary - hab122_0702 - Habitat polygons for HMPR-122-2007-02 survey

For this particular area, a maximum likelihood classification rule was used to segment side scan sonar imagery using local fourier histogram texture features calculated from grey scale pixel intensity values.

Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Boundary (polygon)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries manages a system of sanctuaries and other managed areas around the country. The legal boundaries of These sanctuaries are defined within the Code of Federal Regulations, at 15 C.F.R. Part 922 and the subparts for each national marine sanctuary. The GIS compatible digital boundary files for each national marine sanctuary are representations of those legal boundaries and are based on the best available data. These files are available for public use at locations defined in this metadata record.

Neah Bay to Cape Alava, Northwest Coast, Washington State - Topographic Survey Data

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These data were collected by the SHOALS-1000T(Scanning Hydrographic Operational Airborne Lidar Survey)system which consists of an airborne laser transmitter/receiver with a 1kHz. bathymetric laser and a10 kHz topographic laser. The system was operated from a Beechcraft King Air 90aircraft. Data were collected with the bathymetric laser while flying at altitudes of about 400 meters and a groundspeed of about 124 knots. The topographic laser data was collected at altitudes of about 700 m and a groundspeed of 150 kts. One KGPS base stations was used during processing of the dataset.
