Northwest Peninsular Florida 2016 HYDROP (Hydrography Polygons)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set contains vector polygons representing the coastal shoreline and hydrography used in the creation of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) for Northwest Peninsula Florida. This data set is a portion of the ESI data for Florida. As a whole, the ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil, and include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.

Northwest Peninsular Florida 2016 ESIL (ESI Shoreline Types - Lines)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set contains vector lines representing coastal habitats of Northwest Peninsula Florida, classified by their susceptibility to oiling. The Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) classification system, developed by NOAA, considers several natural and biological factors when ranking an intertidal range's sensitivity and persistence of oil impacts.

Alaska Harbor Seal Stocks

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data layer represents the 12 uniquely identified stocks of harbor seals found in Alaskan waters. Stocks were identified by NMFS and their co-management partners, the Alaska Native Harbor Seal Commission, in 2010 based largely on genetic structure. Given the genetic samples were not obtained continuously throughout the range, a total evidence approach was used to consider additional factors such as population trends, observed harbor seal movements, and traditional Alaska Native use areas in the final designation of stock boundaries.

North Carolina 2016 HYDRO Lines

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set contains vector lines representing coastal hydrography features that are not captured in the HYDROP polygon data layer. Typically, the features found in the HYDROL data layer are piers, breakwaters, and inland rivers and creeks. As a whole, the ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil, and include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.

As a whole, the ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil, and include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. See also the HYDROL (Hydrography Lines) data layer for additional shoreline/hydrography information.

Fishing Community Profile: Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (2017)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

To enable fisheries managers to comply with National Standard 8 (NS8), NMFS social scientists around the nation are preparing fishing community profiles that present the features and characteristics of such communities. PIFSC has published or is developing four such profiles: one each for Hawaii, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa.

Leopard Seal UAS Images 2013-2014 v1.0

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

We aerially surveyed leopard seals of known body size and mass to test the precision and accuracy of photogrammetry from a small UAS. Flights were conducted in January and February of 2013 and 2014 and 50 photogrammetric samples were obtained from 15 unrestrained seals. Photogrammetric measurements from a single, vertical image obtained using UAS provide a noninvasive approach for estimating the mass and body condition of pinnipeds that may be widely applicable.
