Regional Hydrodynamic Model Outputs of the NOAA Lake Michigan and Huron Operational Forecast System (LMHOFS)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

NOAA's National Ocean Service (NOS) has developed a Lake Michigan and Huron Operational Forecast System (LMHOFS). LMHOFS is based on a three-dimensional ROMS model that runs on NOAA's High Performance Computers (HPC). LMHOFS provides water level, currents, water temperature and salinity nowcast and forecast guidance as well as interpolated winds from National Weather Service products. LMHOFS runs four times per day and generates 6-hour nowcasts and 48-hour forecast guidance.

Cooperative Observer Program (COOP) Precipitation Data - 15 minute (CPD - 15 min), Version 2

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Cooperative Observer Program (COOP) 15-Minute Precipitation Data consists of quality controlled precipitation amounts, which are measurements of 15 minute accumulation of precipitation, including rain and snow for approximately 2,000 observing stations around the country, and several U.S. territories in the Caribbean and Pacific from the National Weather Service (NWS) Fischer-Porter Network. This new version of COOP HPD with faster automations due updated stations will result in faster access for the public.

Estuarine Bathymetric Digital Elevation Models (30 meter resolution) Derived From Source Hydrographic Survey Soundings Collected by NOAA

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These Bathymetric Digital Elevation Models (DEM) were generated from original point soundings collected during hydrographic surveys conducted by the National Ocean Service and its predecessors. Mean High Water shoreline as defined by NOAA nautical charts was used as a constraining boundary and assigned its local elevation relative to the local datum (typically Mean Low Water). DEM grid values outside the shoreline (on land) were assigned null values (-32676). In the event of multiple surveys in a region, the most recent survey soundings were retained.

Grid of Hypoxia in the Gulf of Mexico from 2001 to 2011.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This hypoxia dataset is a 10 minute grid based on 2001-2011 Hypoxia Watch stations. The grid has attributes added that allow analysis of hypoxia in the Gulf of Mexico. Such analysis might include frequency of data collection, frequency of hypoxia, years data collection occurred, etc. Stations that recorded oxygen values less than or equal to 2.0 mg/L are considered hypoxic.

Hypoxia Samples in the Gulf of Mexico from 2001 to 2011.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset is a compilation of 2001-2011 Hypoxia Watch summer sampling stations. Stations that recorded oxygen values less than or equal to 2.0 mg/L are considered hypoxic.

1948 Land Cover Land Use Map, Mobile and Baldwin Counties, Alabama

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Land cover land use (LCLU) geographic information system (GIS) data for 1948 for watersheds in Mobile and Baldwin Counties was derived from a digitized paper map. The LCLU dataset includes four land cover land use classes: Urban, Timber, Crop or Pasture, and Crop.

1992 Land Cover Land Use Map, Mobile and Baldwin Counties, Alabama

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The 1992 National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) coverage for watersheds in Mobile and Baldwin Counties, Alabama was used as an input in a hydrologic modeling system to determine the effects of land cover land used change on shallow water aquatic ecosystems. The dataset includes eleven land cover land use classes.

2000 NCCOS Gulf of Mexico Coastal and Watershed County Well-Being Indices

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

There are 8 indices representing different aspects of human well-being measured for 139 coastal and watershed counties in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The indices are derived from 41 collected secondary variables for 5 separate time periods spanning from 2000 through 2012. This complete data set creates a holistic, county level method to anlayze changes in societal structure using the human well-being construct as proxy.

2001 Land Cover Land Use Map, Mobile and Baldwin Counties, Alabama

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The 2001 National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) coverage for watersheds in Mobile and Baldwin Counties was used as an input in a hydrologic modeling system to determine the effects of land cover land used (LCLU) change on shallow water aquatic ecosystems. The dataset includes eleven remapped land cover land use classes: water, low intensity residential/recreational, medium/high intensity residential, urban commercial, bare soil/transitional deciduous forest, evergreen forest, mixed forest/shrub, agricultural/pasture, woody wetlands, and emergent herbaceous wetlands.
