OCSLA 8(g) Revenue Zone - Gulf of Mexico NAD27

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data set contains the Limit of '8(g) Zone' line in ESRI shapefile format for the BOEM gulf of Mexico Region. The '8(g) Zone' lies between the Submerged Lands Act (SLA) boundary line and a line projected 3 nautical miles seaward of the SLA boundary line. Within this zone, revenues are shared with the coastal state(s). Because GIS projection and topology functions can change or generalize coordinates, these GIS files are considered to be approximate and are NOT an OFFICIAL record for the exact Submerged Lands Act Boundary.

Grid of Hurricane Frequency in the Gulf of Mexico from 1851 to 2012.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This hurricane dataset is a 10 minute grid based on a subset of the 1851 - 2012 hurricane tracks from the International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship (IBTrACS) and the National Hurricane Center. The grid has attributes added that allow analysis of hurricane frequency in the Gulf of Mexico. The grid only references systems that were Tropical Storm strength or greater. Only tracks that entered the Gulf of Mexico are included. (For example, storms that moved westward across Florida, but did not emerge into the Gulf, were excluded.)
