Predicted (Hindcast) Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) Habitat Areas for Mobile Bay, AL based on 1948 Land Cover-Land Use

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset forms part of four projections for a Mobile Bay Land Cover Land Use (LCLU) Project to link changes in watershed, such as development and land use, to changes in nearshore and coastal habitats. This dataset represents areas that are forecasted to receive sufficient light (>= 18% Surface Irradiance) for submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) growth based on 1948 land cover.

National Status and Trends: Mussel Watch Project Analyte Chemistry File (1986 to present) Compiled by NOAA's National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The MWANALYTE data file reports the trace concentrations of a suite of chemical contaminants in marine sediment and bivalve tissue samples collected from all U.S. coastal regions since 1986. The sediment and tissue samples were analyzed for major and trace elements and suite of organic chemical constituents, including butlytins, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and pesticides. The MWANALYTE file is constructed as a vertical formatted table.

Reserve Boundaries of the National Estuarine Research Reserve System - Gulf of Mexico only

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This dataset contains the geographic boundaries of five estuarine research reserves found in the Gulf of Mexico: Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR), Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (GBNERR), Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve (MANERR), Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR), and Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (WBNERR).

National Marine Sanctuary Boundaries - Gulf of Mexico only

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The National Marine Sanctuary Program manages system of sanctuaries and other managed areas around the country. The legal boundaries of these sanctuaries are defined within the Code of Federal Regulations, at 15 C.F.R. Part 922 and the subparts for each national marine sanctuary. The GIS compatible digital boundary files for each national marine sanctuary are representations of those legal boundaries and are based on the best available data. These files are available for public use at locations defined in this metadata record.
