Observer data span more than two decades and multiple database development interations. To facilitate status of stocks authors and other users of these records, a data set separate from the OLAP was created which reformats and repackages vetted (debriefed) observer data from NORPAC into a common structure, format, and syntax. The granularity of current production data is compromised, however for the purposes of longitudinal research the data set is internally consistant, and spans the developmental boundaries.

Southern Biscayne Bay's shoreline fish community been monitored visually twice a year since 1998 to compare fish use of mangrove prop root habitats along the mainland with that along the leeward side of the northernmost Florida Keys. This has been pursued by examining seasonal and spatial variation in fish taxonomic composition and diversity as well as variation in the frequency of occurrence, density and size structure of dominant fish taxa that occupy these mangrove lined shorelines.

The main table contains all data collected from each bottomfish received and processed over the course of the Federal Disaster Relief Program (FDRP)-funded Hawaiian Archipelago Bottomfish Sampling Program as well as fish collected on the Oscar Elton Sette, other research cruises including small boat operations, hapu'upu'puu received from the Laysan during a separate project, and any bottomfish that are donated or purchased for age and growth research from the United Fishing Agency (UFA) fish auction, Chinatown, cooperating fishermen, etc.
