Distribution of dominant calanoid copepod species in the Greenland Sea during late fall; 06 November 1988 to 12 December 1988 (NCEI Accession 0000917)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Between 6 November and 12 December 1988, vertical distributions of Calanus finmarchicus, C. hyperboreus, C. glacialis and Metridia long were studied at three stations in the Arctic water of the Greenland Sea Gyre (GSG) and compared with two stations in the Atlantic water (AW) of the Westspitsbergen Current. Nine depth strata down to 3,000m were sampled. C. finmarchicus was most abundant in AW. C. hyperboreus in GSG, M. longa showed no preference and C. glacialis was rare everywhere. Stage composition differed with species and water mass.

Distribution and morphological features of the antarctic species of CALANUS and The euphausiid fauna of the antarctic and notal regions; 1955-02-22 to 1958-06-17 (NCEI Accession 0000922)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This data contains abundance, length, and life history data of four species of Calanus copepods. The data is a compilation of 3 cruises of the MV OB carried out by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition during the IGY (1955-1958). The surveys paid close attention to obtaining complete data on the populations and distribution of the adult stages of Copepoda. Two types of plankton nets were used; Juday net with mesh size No. 38 and the K100 net with mesh size No. 9 in the cylindrical part, No. 15 in the upper part and No. 23 or 38 in the lower part of the net.

Aerial surveys of ringed seals (Phoca hispida) on fast and pack ice in the central Beaufort Sea of Alaska, 1985-1987 and 1996-1999 (NCEI Accession 0000931)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These datasets include counts of ringed seals (Phoca hispida) and other marine mammals made during aerial surveys of ringed seals on fast and pack ice of the central Alaskan Beaufort Sea during 1985-1987 and 1996-1999. The datasets includes counts of seals, by group; designation of whether seals were at holes or along cracks; ice conditions including ice deformation and ice type (fast ice or pack ice); weather conditions; time of observations, and location of observations.

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This report records the data collected during the cruise of the R.V. Jalanidhi in the South China Sea and the water around the Seribu Islands. The region of the South China Sea that has been covered by the present cruise is identical with the one covered by R.V. Samudera during her February - March cruise of 1971 (INST. MAR. RES., Oceanogr. Cruise Rep. No. 3, 1971) while the area around Seribu Islands is identical with the one covered by the R.V. Samudera during her July - September cruise of 1971 (INST. MAR. RES., Oceanogr. Cruise Rep. No. 5, in press).
