Photoquadrat analysis of how sea urchins reduce abundance of Kappaphycus and analysis of regrowth of coral on plots in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii in 2002 (NCEI Accession 0001022)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

An experiment was performed to assess the potential to use native sea urchins as biocontrols for alien/invasive seaweeds. One species of urchin, tripneustes gratilla, was bedded in a 1/4 m2 plot with > 50% kappaphycus cover. Fences were made out of plastic coated chicken wire and were surveyed every month with photoquadrats to assess kappaphycus abundance. In addition, regrowth of plots where kappaphycus had been removed was monitored.

Temperature, salinity and other measurements found in datasets OSD and CTD taken from the THALIA, MARION DUFRESNE (Call sign FNGB; built 1973; IMO 7208388) and other platforms in the Coastal N Atlantic, Coastal S Indian and other locations from 1989 to 2003 (NCEI Accession 0001026)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Nutrients, physical, and other data were collected using bottle and CTD casts in the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and Bay of Biscay from 01 January 1989 to 30 April 2003. Data were submitted by the Institut Français De Recherche Pour L'Exploitation De La Mer - Brest (IFREMER). Nutrients data include nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and silicate.

Physical and chemical oceanographic data collected aboard NOAA Ship RONALD H. BROWN during the Joint Air-Sea Monsoon Interaction Experiment (JASMINE) in the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and the Timor Sea from 1999-04-10 to 1999-06-06 (NCEI Accession 0001029)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

JASMINE is the first comprehensive study of the coupled ocean-atmosphere system in the eastern Indian Ocean and the southern Bay of Bengal. Observations made during the field phase of JASMINE sampled both prolonged break and active phases of the monsoon resulting in an unprecedented amount of research quality data defining the atmospheric and oceanic state during intra-seasonal transitions of the monsoon.

NOAA Office for Coastal Management Benthic Habitat Data, Apalachicola Bay, Dry Tortugas, Florida Bay, and Indian River Lagoon, Florida, 1991-2001 (NCEI Accession 0001045)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

These data are a collection of regional GIS (Arcview shapefiles and associated Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata) benthic habitat files from studies conducted in specific locations within Florida. Data were collected in partnership with the NOAA Office for Coastal Management (formerly the Coastal Services Center) following the guidelines detailed by the NOAA Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP). Each regions's data is held in a separate subdirectory within this dataset.

Nonindigenous marine species in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii in 1999 - 2000 (NCEI Accession 0001053)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The presence and impact of nonindigenous (introduced) marine organisms in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaiian Islands are evaluated using a combination of historical records and on-site surveys. Findings are compared with the results of similar studies conducted in Hawaii and the Pacific.

Nonindigenous marine species at Waikiki and Hawaii Kai, Oahu, Hawaii in 2001 - 2002 (NCEI Accession 0001061)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Surveys of the marine algae, invertebrates and reef fishes of Waikiki and the Kuapa Pond and Maunalua Bay areas of Hawaii Kai were conducted with the objective of the presence and impact of nonindigenous (introduced) marine organisms. Findings were compared with historical records of species reported in these locations and with the results of similar studies conducted in Hawaii and the Pacific. Observations and collections were made at 15 stations at Waikiki in January 2001 and at five stations in Kuapa Pond-Maunalua Bay in February 2002 at 5 stations.
