NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Volcanic Ash Detection and Height Environmental Data Record (EDR) from NDE

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides volcanic ash from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer (VIIRS) instrument onboard Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21. The EDR contains two images with pixel values identifying volcanic ash cloud height and volcanic ash mass loading. The product also includes two types of data quality information, one indicator describes the quality of the volcanic ash detection, and the second indicator provides information about the quality and ash characteristics of the retrieval for on-earth pixels.

NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Nighttime Cloud Optical Microphysical Properties (NCOMP) Environmental Data Record (EDR) from NDE

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides nighttime cloud optical and microphysical properties (NCOMP) from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) onboard Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21.The EDR contains Cloud Optical Depth (COD), Cloud effective Particle Size (CPS), and Liquid and Ice Water Path. NCOMP algorithm uses VIIRS bands M7, M15, and M16 and provides daily, global coverage at a spatial resolution of 750 meters at nadir. Liquid and ice water path are calculated subsequently from COD and CPS.

NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Aerosol Detection Environmental Data Record (EDR) from NDE

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides suspended matter from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument onboard Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21. satellite. The retrieval algorithm is based on a legacy product originally developed for the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor but is adapted and improved upon for use by VIIRS. The aerosol mask indicates the presence of either smoke or dust. The dust and smoke masks indicate the presence of dust and smoke, respectively.

NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Aerosol Optical Depth and Aerosol Particle Size Distribution Environmental Data Record (EDR) from NDE

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides aerosol optical depth (AOD) and particle size from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument onboard Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21. The retrieval algorithm is based on a legacy product originally developed for the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor but is adapted and improved upon for use by VIIRS. The AOD product consists of vertically-integrated total column extinction at mid-visible 0.55 micron and for a range of wavelengths from 0.412 to 2.25 micron.

NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Ice Concentration and Ice Surface Temperature Environmental Data Records (EDRs) from NDE

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides Sea Ice Concentration (SIC) and Ice Surface Temperature (IST) from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument onboard Suomi-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21. This daily product identifies ice cover and estimates ice concentration and ice surface temperature over water surfaces for clear (cloud-free) pixels. No land ice applications are included. The product also includes quality information which provides support information on the quality of ice estimates.
