NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Reprocessed Sensor Data Record (SDR) from STAR

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) is a scanning radiometer that collects visible and infrared imagery and radiometric measurements of the land, atmosphere, cryosphere, and oceans. Level-1b reprocessed Sensor Data Records (SDRs) from from VIIRS are the calibrated and geolocated radiance and reflectance data produced from the Raw Data Records.

NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Non-Gridded Reprocessed Intermediate Products (IP) from STAR

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This metadata record encompasses all Non-Gridded Intermediate Products (IP) produced from observations acquired by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) onboard the Suomi-NPP satellite. VIIRS Intermediate Products (IP) are generated at a specific point in the data processing stream, stored for a finite period of time, and used internally as an input to other data processing applications. These IPs are generated from reprocessed VIIRS Sensor Data Records (SDR) and are used as inputs for generating VIIRS Environmental Data Records (EDR).

NOAA JPSS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Cloud Cover Layers (EDR) from NDE

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

This Level-2 (L2) Environmental Data Record (EDR) provides cloud cover layers detected with VIIRS I-band (750 m) channels onboard the Suomi-NPP and NOAA-20 satellites. The Cloud Cover Layer (CCL) retrieval algorithm derives cloud fraction, including supercooled and convective clouds, at a predefined spatial resolution and between specified atmospheric levels. It also retrieves total cloud fraction from surface to top of the atmosphere at the same resolution. CCL information is primarily derived from VIIRS cloud mask and cloud top products.

Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) Ocean Surface Wind Vectors (25 km and 50 km)

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) real aperture radar is a C-band dual swath fan beam radar scatterometer onboard the European MetOp satellite series. The instrument uses radar to measure backscatter to determine wind speed and direction over the surface of the ocean. ASCAT Level-2 ocean surface wind products are generated by NOAA with ASCAT L1B data from the European Organization for Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).

Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) Level-2 Ultra High Resolution Storm Winds

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) real aperture radar is a C-band dual swath fan beam radar scatterometer onboard the European METOP satellite series. The instrument uses radar to measure backscatter to determine wind speed and direction over the surface of the ocean. ASCAT Level-2 Ultra High Resolution (UHR) storm wind retrieval measurements are generated by NOAA with ASCAT L1B data from the European Organization for Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).

Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) Daily Ice Images

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) real aperture radar is a C-band dual swath fan beam radar scatterometer onboard the European MetOp satellite series. The instrument measures radar backscatter at 6 azimuth angles and a diversity of incidence angles. The wide swath and frequent overflights permit the generation of a wide variety of ASCAT Image products. ASCAT Level-2 Ice Images are generated by NOAA using ASCAT L1B data from the European Organization for Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). The images cover the Arctic, Antarctica, Alaska, the Ross Ice Shelf, and the Weddel Sea.

Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) Level 2 Environmental Data Record

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer is a Cross-nadir infrared sounder flown on the European MetOp satellite series. IASI measures atmospheric emission spectra to derive temperature and humidity profiles with high vertical resolution and accuracy. IASI is a Michelson interferometer with spectral coverage between 3.6 and 15.5 micrometers. At nadir, the instrument samples data at intervals of 25 km along track and cross track with each sample having a maximum diameter of about 12 km.

Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) Level 2 Enterprise Cloud Mask

Data provided by  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer 3 (AVHRR/3) onboard MetOp-B/C is a cross track scanner that senses the Earth's radiation via six channels ranging from 0.58 to 12.5 microns. These channels cover the visible (VIS), near-infrared (NIR), shortwave-infrared (SWIR), medium-wave-infrared (MWIR), and thermal-infrared (TIR) spectral regions. AVHRR/3 provides day and night imaging of land, water and clouds, and measures sea surface temperature, ice, snow and vegetation cover.
