BEA has been researching the use of card transaction data as an early barometer of spending in the United States. Since the emergence of COVID-19, dramatic and fast-moving changes to the U.S. economy have increased the public and policymakers' need for more frequent and timely economic data. In response, BEA is presenting these estimates using daily payment card data to measure the effects of the pandemic on spending, updated approximately every two weeks.

These tables present a sequence of accounts that relate production, income and spending, capital formation, financial transactions, and asset revaluations to changes in net worth between balance sheets for the major sectors of the U.S. economy.

The Travel and Tourism Satellite Account measures how much tourists spend and the prices they pay for lodging, airfare, souvenirs, and other travel-related items. These statistics also provide a snapshot of employment in the travel and tourism industries.

The ARts and Cultural Production Satellite Account highlights the economic impact of music groups, museums, photography, and more, including contributions to GDP, output, employment, and compensation. These data also include supporting arts industries, such as broadcasting and manufacturing.

The Outdoor Recreation Satellite Account measures the economic activity as well as the sales or receipts generated by outdoor recreational activities, such as fishing and RVing. These statistics also measure each industry's production of outdoor goods and services and its contribution to U.S. GDP. Industry breakdowns of outdoor employment and compensation are also included.

The Ocean Economy Satellite Account measures ocean-dependent activities' contributions to the U.S. economy, using methodology consistent with BEA's core statistics, such as gross domestic product.

The Health Care Satellite Account measures U.S. health care spending to treat diseases, like cancer or diabetes, rather than by place of service, like a hospital or doctor's office, offering a new way of analyzing the health care sector.

The Digital Economy Satellite Account measures the digital economy's contribution to U.S. GDP, improves measures of high-tech goods and services, and offers a more complete picture of international trade. Includes valuing digital-enabling infrastructure, e-commerce transactions, and digital media.

The integrated industry-level production account (ILPA) contains estimates of the sources of economic growth. It allows analysts to trace aggregate GDP growth from its industry origins to changes in factors of production, including capital, labor, intermediate inputs, and (integrated) multifactor productivity. Accounts of this nature are often referred to as 'KLEMS' accounts and the 'integrated' terminology reflects a collaboration between the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and BEA to produce consistent estimates.

Regional Price Parities allow comparisons of buying power across the 50 states and the District of Columbia, or from one metro area to another, for a given year. Price levels are expressed as a percentage of the overall national level.
