Soil Logs, grain size analysis, and water quality measurements at West Fork Hoquiam River Dam Removal and Groundwater Replacement Preliminary Design and Permitting project from 2024-04-29 to 2024-10-15 (NCEI Accession 0306762)

Drilling of the exploratory boreholes and installation of the monitoring well was completed by Anderson Environmental Contracting, LLC (AEC), using sonic drilling methods. An Aspect geologist was on-Site to observe the drilling and characterize the samples under the direction of a Washington State-licensed hydrogeologist (LHG). Aspect logged the borehole in general accordance with ASTM International (ASTM) Method D2488, Standard Practice for Description and Identification of Soils (Visual-Manual Procedure). To confirm the soil type of the shallow aquifer, Aspect submitted a representative soil sample to Hayre McElroy & Associates of Redmond, Washington, for laboratory analysis of grain-size distribution.
In addition, water quality samples were taken from the TW-01 to categorize the shallow aquifer water quality at the site. These water quality samples were sent to Fremont Analytical, Inc of Seattle, Washington, for laboratory analysis.
